Ask for the special menu

They have a special menu that will list what is vegan, gluten free and so on. Lots of sauces and topping for your burg or dawg

Great options

Been there plenty of times and have had both the vegan dog and burger. Lots of toppings and sauces to choose from. Toppings and sauces are not marked vegan so you will have to ask if worried.

Cons: Items not labeled vegan

Amazing Vegan Dogs!!

I didn’t get to try the vegan burger, I had one GIANT vegan dog and it was so good! I got mine with vegan chili and grilled onions and peppers. Out of this world!

Pros: Loads of toppings including vegan chili!!

Great dog, amazing tots!

Great local bar with music, trivia, and Field Roast veggie dogs. Just seat yourself, fill out a food order, and enjoy. Tots fries are both excellent.

Pros: Veggie dog with plenty of veggie toppings, amazing tots, great beer selection

Cons: Sometimes a bit loud, but adds to the atmosphere, some toppings (relish) make bun too soggy

Hot Diggity !

Street parking, neighborhood wasn't bad. Walked in and was greeted right away. I mentioned I was a vegan , the server handed me a list that clearly indicated vegan options. You check off all your toppings, put your name one it and the server takes it. Great

Pros: Vegan options, Clearly marked staff, Friendly staff

Cons: Price

Fun options, cheap, vegans not an afterthought!

March 2014 UPDATE: I recently went three times in three days in town, and am happy to say that I loved it all three times, and found it much tastier than I did before. The vodka sauerkraut is better than the Yuengling sauerkraut used to be, the Alien relish tastier (still the same weird St. Patrick's Day green), the vegan chili topping had more kick, etc. Still dirt cheap at $5 for a vegan dog with unlimited toppings, and $3 for tots or fries (plus $1 per topping, but free unlimited dipping sauces.)

Yes, there is a ton of meat. But you can ask for the vegan and vegetarian menu decoder list, and there are LOTS of delicious vegan options. Vegans definitely aren't an afterthought here.

The atmosphere is hipster working class bar. Around 15-20 beers on draft, a full bar, and almost always a lot of people. Do check the hours before you go: most weekdays they don't open until 4pm. (IIRC, Friday through Sunday are the only days they open for lunch.)

I've left my original review below.

I'll keep going back!

OLD REVIEW:
This is a fun, beautiful bar that serves hot dogs, including vegan Field Roast dogs, with a ton of available toppings.

Unfortunately, while it's fun, the actual taste was kind of underwhelming. And for the toppings I got on my field roast ($5, with as many toppings as you want) it shouldn't have been so... blah. I got:

Yuengling sauerkraut
habernero pickled onions
caramelized onions
sport peppers
"alien" pickle relish (BRIGHT green, not sure what else)
Jamacian jerk mustard mojo

With all this, it should have been full of flavor, right? Well, it wasn't. It was fine, tasty enough, but really pretty underwhelming for taste.

You check off boxes for toppings that you want on an order sheet which the bartender or server takes back to the kitchen, and amazingly quickly, your food comes out.

The "vegan menu" is actually a sheet which indicates which of the available toppings are vegan (and GF, etc.) I'll try uploading a picture.

Great draft beer selections, with lots of local, Ohio, and upper Midwest represented.

I'd certainly go back, but probably wouldn't out of my way again.

Simple, yummy, great beer

This is one of those great finds you have to be a local to know. You get exactly what you are thinking - hotdogs and drinks, oh and Tater Tots. There are over 20 different toppings for the VEGAN hot dogs. The toppings are on a menu for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free. Ordering is a bit tricky, but ask your server for help.

Additional parking across the street and on a major bus line.

You get exactly what you think - a large hot dog with whatever toppings you want as many as you want. The toppings go from mustards and sauerkraut to tex-mex to traditional relish/ketchup.

BEER SNOBS - this is your joint for all kinds of microbrews on tap. You can get a tasting of a beer before you commit, but don't abuse it. Great atmosphere for a fun date or night out with the gang. Great place to watch a sports event.

LUV this place.

Pros: Good simple food, Many Choices, Great Beer/Wine list

Cons: Decor is very laid back, May need additional parking for weekends, Few side dish options

Happy Times @ Happy Dog

Called in on an early Saturday evening - this has got to be one of the best vegan-option places in Cleveland. First and foremost it's a VERY down to earth bar, unpretentious, great beer selection, nice mixed crowd, friendly staff - so off to a great start...

The menu is essentially a (meat or) vegan hot dog, with a pretty intimidating list of topping options (a list of vegan/gluten free toppings available on request) that should keep any local coming back for more on a daily basis for at least several months to try out all the possible combos). Then there's the options of fries or tator tots (really?! do they even bother stocking fries?!) with various sauce options.

Great spot - I highly recommend it and hope to be back again soon.

Pros: Vegan Dogs!, In a bar!, V. fast service!
