Good stuff

This staff is ALWAYS nice and knowledgeable. The food is always delicious. The prices are fair and I mean the only complaint is that it’s not 100% vegan. They do make it very easy to veganize any of it

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Incredibly friendly staff, Delicious

Tasty Indian Veg options

We had the following dishes:

Bhindi masala (okra)
Chana masala (chickpeas)
Rice
Draft beer

Started eating whole food plant based this year and went here for a cheat meal (oils, salts).

Very nice staff. More options than many places.

Pros: Many options for vegetarians and vegans, Great staff, Most ingredients listed

Cons: Easier to dine for vegetarians vs vegans

Good vegan options, compostable takeout containers!

With in-person dining suspended, the kind of containers restaurants use has taken on a new importance for those of us trying to minimize our environmental footprint. We really appreciate Gurkhas’ use of all compostable containers. They asked us if we needed cutlery and did not include it per our request. Unlike some other reviewers’ experience, we have found them to be very knowledgeable about vegan options, even saying on the phone that they would omit the mint chutney for our samosas but include the dairy-free tamarind. Our receipt clearly showed the no dairy instructions to the kitchen, and they can sub coconut milk for dairy in most dishes. This may be our new go-to spot in town after Flavor of India sent us an order of meat samosas.

Service and food are very good!

I went to eat here on a Saturday night, with my 4 year old. I had the vegetable momo and it was very tasty. Just wish it had a little more sauce. My son is not vegan and he had a meal from the children’s menu, sweet and sour chicken, and mango lassi. We both ate every bite and the server was very attentive. I will certainly eat there again to try something else from the menu. Just wish they had dosa.

(EDITED 7/16) Not many vegan options (NOW MORE)

I used to go here quite often, but hadn't been back in about a year. They say they can make most of their menu vegan, but I've had trouble getting this done in the past. The Vegetable Chili is really good and spicy. When I visited in July 2016, they've added more veggie options, and have started serving tofu in dishes as well (the veggie chili is way better than the tofu chili though). Wait times used to be much longer than they estimated, but they were accurate this last time. Delicious food.

Not quite used to Vegans!

We ate here once and the food was average - average use of flavor, average service, small-average portions. It was OK, but we won't be back. They are not used to adapting meals for vegans and we felt like we were imposing. Vegetarians would probably have a better experience.

Pros: Affordable/nice-looking buffet FOR MEAT EATERS!

Cons: Not truly vegan-friendly
