Plant-Based Paradise

GreenTree Cooperative Grocery absolutely lived up to the high expectations I had for it. There were so many great vegan options around every corner. I would definitely recommend this grocery store to anyone in Mid-Michigan, it’s worth the trip!

Pros: Great Vegan Groceries, Helpful Staff, Well Organized Layout

An oasis

Green Tree has long been my favourite place for on-the-go vegan lunches, but since moving to their new location they've taken the options up a notch! The seating area is great, the larger grocery store is gorgeous, and I can still get my favourite vegan breakfast burrito

Pros: Lots of take away vegan options, Great vegan meat, cheese and frozen selection , Staff are truly wonderful

Many Vegan Options

Green Tree offers several local, organic, and vegan food options. They have a well-stocked bulk section and offer many items not available at larger stores (like nutritional yeast, coconut aminos, and vegan cheeses other than Daiya). They also have a great deli/hot food department. They offer cold items like sandwiches, wraps, samosas, (with vegan options available), hot foods like soups and vegan breakfast burritos (which are so popular they're nearly always available), and prepared desserts with several vegan options (my favorite section). They also offer several gluten-free options.

Update: All of their deli food is great, but if you're vegan I would particularly recommend their mac and cheese. It's a little pricey, but it is hands down the best vegan macaroni and cheese I've had.

Cute neighborhood co-op with hot food options!

Greentree has a very nice selection of mock-meats, vegan cheeses, non-dairy milk, non-dairy ice creams, and vegan convenience foods, in addition to bulk food items.

They also have a small hot food bar and often have delicious vegan breakfast burritos and vegan soups! They offer vegan sandwiches and homemade desserts as well.

Pros: friendly staff, local food, lots of veg/vegan options

Cons: pricey

Great little store with many options

On our way to northern MI, we stopped in this store based on Happy Cow. We were impressed. They had many organic, vegetarian, and gluten free options. They have a bulk food section and a small deli case with tasty sandwiches and salads. The staff was really nice and the store was well organized.

Pros: Vegetarian, gluten fee, organic options, Friendly staff, Tasty food in deli case

Cons: little expensive

Great store in Mt. Pleasant

Greentree has everything that a vegan/vegetarian/organic eater needs. They are very veg-friendly and have lots of good items in stock. All of their produce is organic and/or local and they usually have specials on local foods. Prices are not outrageous, you will get a better deal on organics here than you will at the larger chain stores (i.e. Meijer). You do not need to be a member to shop here, either. They will take special requests. This is a great store and if you're into healthy eating you will enjoy it!

Pros: good prices, well-stocked, very veg friendly

Hi Cmcneely, I thought your review was a great help. Health food stores vary a lot, but it sounds like this one is good.
