Nice lunch at Gopal's

My family and I had a very nice lunch at Gopals this week (June 2011). It took us about 30 minutes to find the place, going on the previous review's 'across from wal-mart' description, and the fact that not many people in the neighborhood know where it is, so it's a good idea to know where you're going beforehand. All's well that ends well, though, and we had a lovely time. Out-of-towners don't have to worry - even though it doesn't seem like your typical tourist spot (hooray!), the water and produce were totally purified and disinfected. It was our waiter's first day working, but we had a wonderful time talking with him. His English was excellent, and he was incredibly kind and conscientious. The menu changes a bit every day, but we had a great starter salad (jicama, carrots, beets, lettuce, etc), delicious soup, whole-grain bread with good sauce, and a tofu-pumpkin entree with a local mexican vegetable on the side. Also, a healthy, not-too-sweet apple dessert. Purified mango/guayaba water too. We all left feeling very refreshed at at peace. If you're looking for luxury, go somewhere else, but if you want an honest, healthy meal, check it out! We'd definitely go back. It's also quite convenient if you need to go into town to pick up some things from the store. Accessible by public bus too. Recommended, for sure.
healthy food, conscientious staff, inexpensive
a bit tricky to find, no air conditioning (but fans work fine)
