Disappointing Buffet

Posted on 07 / 05 / 2013

I used to eat here when it was under a previous owner. It was an excellent buffet both hot buffet and salad buffet. the selections on the hot buffet used to contain a better selection for vegetarians and the food looked fresher. The food looks like it was prepared the day before. Most of the selections on the salad bar are watery and look like they have been there awhile too. This is a bad choice if you are vegan. This buffet is way over priced for what you get.

Pros: Good tea.
Cons: Poor choice for vegetarians., Food is far from fresh., Overpriced.

Great soup and salad bar

This is currently one of my favorite places to grab lunch. Yes, you are eating in the middle of a grocery store.

It has a few different options - take away by the pound or eat in and have the buffet at a set price. There's a soup and salad buffet or you can add hot foods on for a couple of extra dollars. Both options include drinks (teas, cold and hot, coffee, milk, lemonade and water), locally made breads, fruits and desserts. Typically on the hot meal buffett there's at least two vegetarian options and two non-vegetarian options. For soups there are three options, typically two vegetarian (i don't know if they are vegan or not) and one non-vegetarian. It's clearly labeled. I usually stick to the soup and salad bar because it's plenty. There's lots of vegetables to choose from- various lettuces, bell peppers, carrots, onions, brocolli along with flax seeds, cheeses, jalapenos, garlic, sesame sticks, etc. There's also hummus, tabbouli, a pasta salad and quinoa. The soups are good but I find the black bean soup to be hit and miss and the brocolli soup was flat out gross. The lentil soup was awesome. hHidden by the bread is fantastic salsa. I'm not sure why they put it in that spot. The hot foods tend to be hit and miss. Sometimes they are great and sometimes they lack seasoning. For example, the vegetarian chili is good but on occassions it's just OK, another reason why I stick to the salad and soup portion instead of splurging on the hot food.

This is a good place to go eat if you have a mix of people -vegetarians, non-vegetarians and vegans. Everyone can find something to eat and plenty of it.

Plus, there's awesome small squares of cake at end. The chocolate is fabulous.

I'd give it five stars if the hot foods were more consistent, but even still, if you skip that part, you'll still get a great, healthy satisfying lunch or dinner.

Please note, I have never tried their Sunday brunch.

Pros: hot tea cart, lots of vegetables, healthy
Cons: hot food hit or miss
