good food on the beach front

I enjoyed their Orient Express with noodles instead of rice. Was really delicious! They have loads of vegan options- just mention that you are as some dishes could be misleading like their nut burger which is vegetarian not vegan. would be nice if they could add vegan desserts to their menu.

Pros: beach front view, many vegan options, tasty food

Cons: no vegan dessert options, decor needs an update

good food, great people watching

Several vegan options on the menu for breakfast including a tofu veggie scramble and tofu burrito.

Outdoor seating on the Venice Boardwalk a definite plus.

Sit-down meal on Venice Beach boardwalk

I had read about this place on happycow, and here's my Figtree's Cafe review. This beach front restaurant has been operating in Venice Beach, on the boardwalk, for many many years now... I've eaten here a couple times in the past and was just here again in January 2012.

Figtree Cafe offers a 50% off discount deal on your breakfast bill between 8-9am everyday. The breakfast menu is ovo-lacto vegetarian friendly, but for vegans the choices are limited. You can ask to substitute soy cheese (not sure if contains casein or not), and there is a tofu scramble main dish. You could also get a fresh fruit plate, and a bowl of steel cut oats with fresh fruit.

For lunch and dinner, there are several ovo-lacto vegetarian choices plus a couple vegan ones.

While Figtree is not pure vegetarian, it is an option for sitting down to enjoy the ocean view and watch people walk by. The food taste is all right.

I had a great Spinach-Nut Burger and also sampled a delicious vegan burrito there. This is the kind of restaurant that should be supported by vegans so that we can continually encourage them to include and add to their vegan options on the menu.

Besides tasty vegan food, there are wonderful outdoor tables that look out at the Venice Beach scene...

Pros: Delicious Food, Fun Atmosphere, Friendly Staff

Cons: Busy - go early to get a table

Great for Omnivores and Vegans alike

I've only recently become vegan so I was a little nervous going to Figtree's, which was one of my favorite places for weekend brunch as a meat-eater. I was pleasantly surprised to find multiple vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. I ordered a big veggie burrito that was served with a side salad. The waiter was both knowledgeable and accommodating when I asked about ingredients and substitutions. They have tofu, soy milk, and soy cheese. Excellent food. Excellent service. Great beach-front location.

Pros: yummy food, good location, friendly service

Cons: parking sucks, bit crowded, cold outside in winter!
