Pretty cafe with some vegan options

4 Posted on 09 / 13 / 2013

Fat Lemons has seating indoors and outside in a pretty courtyard which is dog-friendly.
They had quite a range of cakes but only the carrot cake and the scones were vegan. These were tasty enough - though I really yearn for somewhere to get some soya whipping cream and offer a full vegan cream tea in Devon, rather than marg and jam!

Pros: some vegan options, soya milk for drinks, nice pot of tea
Cons: Not 100% vegan, vegan cream tea would be brill please!

Very friendly and tasty cafe

We had a very nice cup of tea (so much better than what we were given at Gidleigh Park) and tasty vegan scones. An independent cafe that is well worth supporting. The owner is very nice and approachable. We had a really good time and highly recommend Fat Lemons.

Pros: Vegan-friendly, Great cream teas, Friendly owner

Tasty and fresh - Fat Lemons

4 Posted on 03 / 14 / 2012

We immediately felt welcome at the Fat Lemons - the very friendly lady behind the counter offered help concerning vegan meals and the interior and colours made it a cosy and enjoyable stay. The rather limited choice of vegan dishes (somehow, in the UK it always comes to hummus sandwiches and the like) was a little disappointment but the food was fresh and tasty. There was also a vegan carrot cake which we didn't have the time to try. Pricewise, the Fat Lemons are a bit on the expensive side - 8 pounds for hummus, olives and crudités and a little salad.
I really liked the place anyway and would probably go there again.

Firstly thank you for your review of our cafe, we really appreciate feedback, just to make you aware we are looking to expand the vegan choices on our menu, shortly we will have a vegan meze, which will include falafel, bean koftas, houmous, baba ganoush, salad, olives and pitta bread, we already offer falafel as a vegan option but will also have the bean koftas, our daily changing soup is always vegan as well.
Just to make you aware the price you paid for the houmous would have been £6.45, which we believe is a fair price for the size of the dish.
We hope this answers some questions and look forward to seeing you again at fat lemons.
