Stumbled on this cafe/bar after seeing an advertising board in the street and had a lovely evening meal. They were offering a simple fixed 3-course menu of the day for 20CHF, which is astonishingly good value for Switzerland. The starter was Gazpacho, with a main course of Lentil Dhal, Ratatouille and a potato dish followed a desert based on stewed fruits and honey. We could see it being freshly cooked in the adjoining kitchen including basil picked from a pot growing outside.
Although the menu was fixed, they were happy to make any alterations we wanted. They also offered extra helpings of each course. All in all the experience was more like visiting a friend for supper rather than a commercial restaurant.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly with lots of posters and notices for local activities, something of a hub for activism.
It is a very small place so probably best to phone ahead if you want to be sure of eating.
Although we are not vegan, the meal probably was, and I can't imagine that asking for vegan would be a problem.
Cons: Limited choice
