not a great place for vegan food

Posted on 09 / 15 / 2015

This place is really great for video games and beer but I highly recommend eating beforehand. I had the vegan peanut sauce pizza and vegan tacos and they were TERRIBLE. Straight disgusting. Seriously. Also there were very little vegan options, there were two pizza selections both with no vegan cheese and the tacos with very dry canned refried beans.

Pros: Lots of video games, lots of pinball machines, good beer selection
Cons: very little selection for vegans, food very unappetizing, no beer on tap

Not Veg Safe!

Posted on 09 / 04 / 2013

I am a former employee. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY VEGAN OPTIONS! The pizza bread, sandwich bread, and all tortillas are not vegan. The "kitchen manager" does not understand what does and does not qualify as vegan, and has no qualms about lying to customers about how animal friendly their product is. Examples: saying there is no animal based broth in her "veg friendly" soups, adding butter to everything, adding meat and animal broth to the beans for tacos/nachoes.

Pros: lots of beer, great video games, cheap
Cons: dishonest, manipulative, ignorant

Super cool!

We happened to be hungry in Tacoma recently, and the name caught my eye in a happy cow search. This place is adorable. Has an amazing array of old & new school video games and pinball, and was playing the Robin Williams Popeye. Really good selection of well priced beer too. Not a fancy joint, but the service was good, and the divey vibe is part of the charm.

The vegan food choices are fairly limited, but this is an arcade bar 1st, and just offering bar fare, let's be clear! You order at the counter, and they'll bring your food out to one of the tables closest to where you're plunking down your quarters.

They have a couple of vegan pizza choices, and no vegan cheese, which is fine by me. (I'm officially over Daiya.) We ordered a double stack pizza that had black beans, red sauce, veggies, tempeh, and gherkin pickles, which MADE the pizza, believe it or not! :) Yum! We killed it. Not the best pizza I ever ate, but good enough if you love video games and beer.

PS- You can also choose hummus instead of red sauce for your pizza.

Pros: Video games, Great beer, Affordable
Cons: Limited choices
