Light food with tranquil ambiance

I love Cosmic- it's a hippie haven (you'll know it when you see it) in the middle of Oak Lawn with clearly marked vegan options. Bonus
= they offer free yoga classes and the chai is bottomless.

I love coming here when I’m in the neighborhood. The food is always good and the decor of the place is very interesting. Prices aren’t horrible, either.

Pros: 100% vegetarian, a lot of vegan options

Spiritual eats

The atmosphere alone is worth the visit! Sufis, mystics, Buddha’s, goddesses...they are all there. I just wish I’d have noticed (or been notified) of the specials board before ordering, since they were making one of my favorite things that day.

Tastes Like... Bleach?

Unique, chic atmosphere. Food was mediocre at best. Terrible parking situation. Chai and water both smelled and tasted like BLEACH.

Pros: Cool Digs

Cons: Drinks smelled and tasted like bleach, BAD parking situation

Great atmosphere too much dairy

Great atmosphere, good service, yummy food. Almost everything on the menu has milk ingredients incorporated. As someone who is very lactose intolerant and allergic to milk, I find it difficult to eat here.

India outside of India

Very lively, colourfull restaurant in the heart of Dallas. We choose the day special, and it was not the best ever. But atmosphere was great. And the samosa and daal was really what i was looking for; a little bite of India in Texas. So my advise, stick to the classics

Great Vegetarian restaurant

It has charm, and I enjoyed my first visit very much. I had an Indian dish, with samosa, rice and naan. They also have burgers and even some Mexican dishes. Many of the dishes still seemed to have an Indian flair. The wait staff was very kind, and while it wasn’t incredibly fast service, I was very happy with it.

You will LOVE EVERYTHING!

Yes, I love everything about this place. The decor, the sweets, the savory.

They truly have the best desserts in the city. Hands down. We waited a long time to get sweets like US cities. The cheesecakes are perfect, the brownies rich, the ice creem... I could take up this whole space talking about the ice creem. It's made from cashews, homemade, not too sweet, flavours change... you can get huge sundaes with toppings and syrups.

Savory stuff is clever - like dorito covered tofu bites. The pot pie is out of this world. The all day breakfast is the best in the city.

I really love this place and you will too!

Pros: HOME MADE ICE CREEM!, Best Baked Goods in city, Stay for lunch too!

Cons: closed on mondays!

A Cosmic Experience

From the moment you drive in to their parking lot you know you have arrived at a special place. Adorned with beautiful artwork, The Cosmic Cafe is a feast for the eyes and the stomach. There are many vegan options including the pizza, which is made with nan (pita bread). There are a few all-vegan dishes as well.

Pros: beautiful atmosphere, quite a few vegan options

Cons: not all vegan

Not a great choice for vegans

I was disappointed by this place. The hotel suggested this over the Spiral Diner (which we went to the next day and loved) but I completely disagree. It's probably a good menu for vegetarians, but most of the dishes are served either with Naan, or wrapped up in Naan, which is not vegan. I ordered the Falafel "wrap" and they didn't have any kind of vegan wrap substitute. So it was more like a small falafel salad with rice on the side. And by small, I mean only 3 falafels! Also, their tahini sauce is not vegan. Falafel is quite boring without tahini sauce. I asked for a side of hummus which made it decent, but still not something I would order again. Also, unfortunately the service was terrible. Perhaps they had people call in sick, etc, but there seemed to be only 2 people working, when they needed closer to 4 servers. Even though I asked THREE times, we didn't even get our table cleared (from the previous patrons) for at least 15 minutes, and then it took another 15 minutes (and asking TWICE) to order our food. The food came quickly after ordering, but we almost just got up and left before we could even order. My friend ordered a smoothie, and they brought the wrong one. To their credit, they did remove the smoothie from the bill, but it didn't help our overall negative experience. I would actually give this one cow, but 2 is the minimum.

Cons: Terribly slow service (before ordering), Not many vegan options

I had spoken with a server when I was there, and they had informed me that their Nan was in fact dairy free and vegan.

My Go To

I have been dining at Cosmic Cafe for years, even before I went Vegan. The menu doesn't change and that works for me. The food is consistent and tasty. The staff is always friendly, calm and happy. Makes me feel good! The parking can be a challenge at busy times, but don't let that stop you. You can park across the street at Office Depot. The menu doesn't label Vegan, but it's easy to differentiate if you read English. The staff is knowledgable and will help you. I often substitue avocado for the cheese in non-vegan dishes. They offer white and wheat pita. Just ask for your preference. White rice is standard and Brown rice is available as an up charge. The decor is fun and interesting. Seems we always think we see something new every time we visit. Indoor seating is cozy. When the temperature is right, the outdoor seating is great, even for being on a busy street. Always have a vegan cake option, usually 2-3, made by a local baker. They also offer a limited selection of wine and beer. Hot tea is self service. During busy times, they request you sit at a 2 top for two people. Keeping 4 tops open for four people. Makes sense!

Pros: Ample food, Calming and relaxing atmosphere, Consistently tasty food

Cons: Parking(available at Office Depot)

AMAZING

Let's start off with the building! Absolutely beautiful and peaceful! Words cannot describe how wonderful the decor is! The food is amazing! I'm vegan so I have options but not as many as a vegetarian! Basically I can order about 90% of the menu and just ask them to leave the cheese, ect off! The staff is very cool and down to earth! AND UM THERE VEGAN CAKES ARE HEAVEN ON EARTH!

You don't have to be a vegetarian to love it!!

First and foremost, parking is a little difficult. I recommend parking across the street at the office store. They do not tow. DO NOT park in any of the adjacent business parking lots on the same side of the street.

First impression outside is a very busily decorated older style house. Walking up the path of pavers through a decorated garden I made my way up the first steps into the porch area which is reminiscent of a small cafe with antique furniture and vintage stove serving as a service table. As I explored around the porch, I found another seating area along the West side of the house which looked like I was in an old rail car on a passenger train. It was beautifully decorated with creative glass-infused plaques and hand-painted pictures. There was a "Luggage Rack" with vintage luggage on top.
I went inside to find a table. The interior was also as vastly decorated with lots to look at and admire. More vintage/antique items serving as service tables, the original fireplace was nicely decorated and appeared to be no longer functional for heat. The general sound environment was not very loud and it was easy to carry on a conversation.

I ordered the "Buddha's Delight." It came as a large plate of Curried vegetable of the day, dahl, samosa, pappadam, rice and nan. The portions were plentiful with lots of variety to choose from to taste and try all on the same plate. All had incredible flavor and it was a very fulfilling meal. Even for a semi-vegetarian. The Curry was fantastic and not too strong.

I decided to go for a cup of their Chai tea which was a nice compliment to the meal. They have a variety of sweeteners available from organic raw sugar to the pink, blue, and yellow packets that you would find at most restaurants.

The atmosphere and staff was friendly and welcoming. I noticed some people heading upstairs for what I can assume was for meditation or a similar type of service. I didn't venture up there as I didn't want to disturb what was already in progress.

The bathrooms were small but clean. Also lavishly decorated with some gentle ethnic music playing within giving you a sense of relaxation as you take care of the call of nature as it were.

The prices were very reasonable. Especially for that area of Dallas. The food was good quality and well worth the cost.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for vegetarians and non-vegetarians as well!

I've been back a few times now and have enjoyed every visit!!

Pros: A good variety of vegetarian food, A changing menu for fresh selections, Inviting and friendly atmosphere

Cons: Small venue fills up fast during peak hr, Parking is a little sparse

good place for mixed company

Not too many vegan options but what I did have (Socrates Plato) was delicious! I went with 3 meat eating coworkers and all found something and all cleaned their plates. Nice place for lunch with a mixed crowd or for a work lunch since the service and prices and decent, but there are definitely better vegan options in dallas.

Pros: tasty, atmosphere

Cons: not too many vegan options , small

I'm addicted! Can't stop going!

Great restaurant! Yummy foods! Awesome environment! Although this is mostly a vegetarian restaurant, there are also great vegan dishes available. My favorite is Budda's Delight. Such a great dish! Their vegan cakes are also amazing! Try the vegan raspberry lemonade cake. You won't regret it!

Yum-o!

I took mother and four friends here and they loved the food. I got a vegetarian meal turned into a vegan meal with no problem. (The options are limited). The nan bread does contain dairy so watch out if you are allergic to dairy like me. This is a hard place to eat if you have a gluten intolerance, bean allergy, soy allergy or wheat allergy. The corn tortillas are not gluten-free.

Not allergy friendly

My vegetarian friends loves this restaurant. It has a very small selection of items they can make vegan. There are no options for people with soy allergies, or gluten intolerance. Beware, the corn-tortillas are not gluten-free they are mixed with white flour. I found out the hard way. All the wraps and nan breads are also made from wheat flour which contains gluten.

Pros: vegetarian

Cons: not allergy friendly, not gluten-free or soy-free, not all vegan

Cosmic chat

I live a minute from the Cosmic cafe. Pravin, the owner, is my friend. There is a convivial relaxed ambience there. The menu has clever, humorous new age names. The decorations from India take you away. I usually split the quesadilla with my hubby, and order a Samosa as an appetizer, each. We round it off with a beer, and it's perfect. Now that we're vegan, we'd ask for no cheese. They're very cool. I recommend it truly. You won't go wrong. They have music on weekends. Much fun!

Pros: Excellent food, healthy cuisine, good value, Friendly staff, a bit noisy, always fun!, Portions are healthy, good value

Great food

First of all, this one place I visited frequently when I lived in the area, and I always go back when in town. Pretty much all there dishes can be made vegan, you just need to let them know. The staff and owner are great, though when it gets busy, you may be waiting a bit longer for the server to reach you, but the meal is worth the wait. They list which desserts are vegan and which are not and have a special dish every day!!! My favorite dishes are the samosas, but everything is great!!

Pros: excellent food, vegan options, friendly staff

Cons: slow when busy
