good for mixed vegi/omni groups

im not generally a big fan of this type of Asian food but was impressed with a few of their dishes (especiallly the kim chi gyoza). the menu is labelled clearly (except for the drinks ) service was ok but they mixed up our dinks order a few times and upon arrival of our food we ordered an extra dish that simply never came but wasnt too fussed as we ended up not needing it and they were really busy.i did find the food way too hot for my taste but was sort of expected for Asian food (just not to that extreme)
overall it was a good place to go with a group of mixed vegan/omni people but probably wouldn't make it a regular.

Pros: labelled menu, two for one cocktails
Cons: too spicy, a tad expensive

Good modern asian food

Although they're not a vegetarian restaurant, there's plenty of vegetarian and a few vegan dishes on the menu. Dishes are very good in general but often on the hot side.

Pros: Friendly staff, Plenty of vege dishes
Cons: Often very spicy

Good for mixed veg/omni groups.

The food is tasty and there are plenty of marked vegan/veg options, as well as dairy free, gluten free, etc. However, it's expensive for what you get (portions are small). I'd only go on the (I think) Monday lunchtime where you get two for the price of one.

A great place to take dedicated omnivores who won't go to a veg-only restaurant, because everyone will be able to find a starter, main and dessert to their liking here.

However, if you're with a mixed veg/omni group, the suggested approach of ordering a bunch of things to share around the table won't necessarily work.

There's also an adjoining cocktail bar, and you can book for a large group with no difficulty.

Pros: Labelled veg/vegan/gf/df options, Can book for large groups
Cons: Expensive, Small portions

Go for lunch, yummy and cheap!

Chow has 2 branches in Wellington - the other is on Woodward Ln. Most of the dishes are appetiser-sized, so you should order 2 or 3 to be satisfied (hence why it's good to go during a weekday lunchtime, 1/2 price!). For vegans, there's a main-sized coconut-veggie curry, a pumpkin salad (mmm, and I don't even like coriander), an orange-pistachio salad, melty delicious deep-fried 5 spice tofu, a couple of types of noodles and veggies and some yummy veggie dumplings. My pick of it all would have to be the sticky rice pudding: coconut, bruleed pineapple and rice, tropical comfort food!

Pros: Range of vegan options, Cheap weekday lunches, Cheap Saturday cocktails
Cons: Small portions
