Awesome staff, okay food

We just did apps and weren’t super impressed. Nothing bad, just nothing amazing. But the staff were all so incredibly nice that you couldn’t help but leave happy. Wish they had outdoor seating but they’re located on second floor of building.

Delicious vegan burrito.

Learning my city all over again as a relatively new vegan. I'm actually excited to eat at Chicora Alley again, as the vegan options are healthful and delicious! (I'd stopped eating mexican food a while ago, because I didn't want all the cheese and rice). The vegan burrito was amazing, and not full of filler, but actual vegetables and some fruit (strange, but yummy). It came with beans and rice, and 4 small scoops of different salsas and a guac. All delicious. It does tend to get very loud in there, but if you want to avoid that go early.

Pros: A few delicious, creative vegan options., Option to sub tofu/veggie patty in other dishes., Salsas were different and amazing!

Cons: Outside seating is just an overflow area to perch., No vegan dessert options :-(, Noisy place.

Delicious Jerked Tofu Plate!

I ordered the Jerked Tofu Plate, and it was DELICIOUS! I was happy to find a place downtown that had viable options for everyone in our party (I am the only veg eater).

The staff was friendly and the portion sizes were very generous. We'll definitely be back!

Pros: Separate Vegan/Veg Section on the Menu, Reasonable Prices, Good Portion Sizes

Completely unaccommodating

Can't comment on the food because they wouldn't make us any. We were the only ones in the restaurant on Christmas (after waiting for an hour for them to open, so we were super hungry) and there was no indication of a special menu on their holiday hours sign, social media, etc. The bartender told us they were only doing burgers and "fried things." He was pretty unwilling to say any words other than "just burgers and fried things" but after some questioning we determined that they wouldn't serve us any of the vegan items on the menu. He directed us to another local restaurant with vegan options that was "definitely open." When we got there it was closed.

Amazing Jerked Tofu

Neat place. Upstairs and easy to miss. Really friendly and helpful staff. The vegan jerked tofu was outstanding. Well spiced with plantains and good portion size. I was quite satisfied. Highly recommend it.

Pros: Nice, independent atmosphere, Super friendly and helpful staff, Some vegan options

Cons: No desert options

Thumbs up

Good vegan options for a great price! I branched out a little more than I normally do, and the vegan burrito was nice! The “side salad” though is just lettuce so don’t expect much.

Pros: Many veggie/vegan options, Big portions

Good Veg Options

I've only ever been to the Mauldin location of Chicora Alley, but for some reason, that location doesn't appear on the map.

Nice veg options. You can swap either Jerk Tofu or a veggie black bean burger for any of their burger selections. Also can substitute tofu for meat in their tacos. I really like their Vegan burrito.

Excellent local beer selections as well.

They are a little hard to find ~ they are ACTUALLY in an alley. It is well worth it!

lovely

I went there for lunch before my flight out and didn't see the items on the menu that were on the website. However I figured that I would get the veggie plate and that would have to suffice. The waitress asked if I was a vegan and stated that even though the vegan burrito is on the dinner menu, she would have the kitchen make it for me. She even said that if I didn't like it she would eat it and not charge me. Well it was wonderful! A large meal that is worth forcing yourself to eat every morsel. Perfect blend of sweetness and spiciness.

Pros: friendly staff, tasty options, street parking

Yum!

Came here on our way thru and was very happy with the extensive options for veg*ns. Menu designates that dishes could be made with tofu or black bean burger as protein option. I ordered the vegan burrito which was a flavorful mix of sweet and spicy. The plantains were a nice and unusual touch. While the burrito itself was very good, the "fruit salsas" it was served with we're nothing special. I was disappointed given that it's summer and peaches are everywhere in the southeast. The remainder of the plate was fine, but a little under-seasoned and uninspired.

Overall, thus was a nice little place with a lot of veg*n choices in a town with little else that I've found. I give this 4 happy cows, if for no other reason then they care enough to make it veg-friendly.

Pros: Options, Flavor combos

Cons: Side items are uninspired
