Good Mexican food with vegan options

They have vegan cheese and sour cream which is really good however it is very expensive
My nachos cost $148HKD with the vegan options.
The burritos are significantly cheaper at $88HKD
But I was craving Mexican food so I was happy to pay for it

Delicious but pricey

Had a really delicious impossible mince burrito. Really tasty and the small was actually pretty large! Several options for vegans incl soy chckn, vegan sour cream and cheese, as well as the impossible mince. Only downside is the price - 240 HKD for 2 of us!

Pros: Very tasty

Cons: Expensive

American style Mexican food with good vegan options

Some of their locations are "Taquerias" (more casual) and others are "Bar and Grill" (restaurant style with additional menu items). This location is a taqueria.

I've eaten at most of the different Cali-Mex's numerous times, including this one. I really like the vegan options.

If you want a dish vegan - some options are:
1) Veggie options (mixed bean / mixed vegetable / spinach) of Burrito, Taco or Salad, stating you want it WITHOUT dairy cheese or sour cream - relatively healthy and not too expensive
2) Venice Beach Vegan of Burrito, Taco etc, which comes as a default with soy chicken, tofu sour cream and soy cheese - tastes amazing!!

Agreed that it is best to check about charges for add-ons beforehand. It can add up, but I rarely find this type of food elsewhere in HK for vegans.

Service has been ok in my experience - we previously experienced some confusion among staff about whether Venice Beach Vegan comes with vegan add-ons as a default; however, we understand they discussed with their staff and have resolved this now.

Pros: Vegan options of American style Mexican food, Tasty

Cons: Check carefully about charges for vegan add-ons, Little expensive

Cali-Mex Taqueria, Wan Chai

The bill says against vary items, "Add $10 for vegan". Yet on the bill they add $20 for each item made vegan. When asked about this Cali Mex said:-

* they upgraded the item to the Venice Beach equivalent on the menu
* The Venice Beach equivalent is $20 extra

This was despite them not telling us this at the time and that we didn't ask for this upgrade. They also tried to bill us for bottled water that we neither ordered nor consumed

Updated from previous review on 2017-06-13

Cons: Dishonest billing, Meat dominated menu

Great vegan burrito and margarita

I had a really great burrito here. It came with vegan cheese and vegan soy chicken pieces. It was so tasty. My frozen margarita tasted great too. My omni boyfriend really enjoyed their tacos too.

Cool place

Very friendly staff that speaks english. You can have a vegan option that is clearly marked on the menu, that includes soy meat, sour surpreme and vegan cheese. You can get it as a burrito, sallad bowl, quesadillas etc.

Very good place if you are looking for vegan mexican!

Pros: Fresh, Tasty

Cons: A bit on the expensive side
