Neighborhood cafe w several vegan options, but scattered service

I ordered online at 10am for pick up, but didn't see how to add pick up time for 12:45, so I sent email and FB messages about the pick up time. Apparently, I should have called, because when we arrived around 12:40, it seems they had not seen my messages. We ordered the vegan breakfast burrito, vegan tuna melt, and nori rolls, but seems they didn't even see our online order because none of the items were being prepared until we arrived. So our order wasn't ready until around 1:15. Aside from the online ordering snafu, it looked they were training two younger staff. If I lived closer, I would try them again to support a small neighborhood cafe with several vegan options. We saw 3-4 customers sitting at nice outdoor tables, so they do have a local following. Also they seems to have an extensive wine and beer list for those fans.

Pros: Small neighborhood cafe with several vegan options, Outdoor seating, Close to a park with a great waterfront view

Cons: Disorganized service, staff , Better call to confirm if ordering online

Not great

I sampled some of their vegan options that were made in-house like their tofu scramble and it tasted bitter and gross. I ended up ordering a cinn roll which is made by flying apron, which will do in a pinch, but they served it to me in a pastry bag with the icing all over. I ordered it to go and it was impossible to eat in the car the way they served it to me. So frustrating.

Pros: Sweets, Gf options

Cons: Tastes bad, Presentation

Vegan options but not great

Agree with IzzyM. Lots of vegan options but none of them are very good. My favorite thing was the green smoothie with cilantro. They do have pastries and things from outside vendors which is nice, but they are saran-wrapped to a plate so you can't even take them to go? Wait is always LONG, never been out of there in under an hour. One time I don't think they even started my food until I asked about it, and had to wait 30 min for a smoothie because they were waiting for someone to bring them ice?!? Also once put cheese on my bagel even though our whole order was vegan. Do appreciate the community feel though, and being an option in the North end.

Pros: Cool space

Cons: Slow service, Food not great

Has a lot of vegan options, but they’re all just okay at best

I really appreciate that Cafe Zippy has a ton of vegan options, however they’re all just okay at best. My mom ordered some sort of hummus bagel sandwich and had to ask for extra hummus because it was so dry. I ordered vegan waffles and they were super bland and I had to struggle through them. They also brought me dairy butter with the waffles even though I specified that everything be vegan. The staff was friendly though and happily exchanged the dairy butter for vegan butter. I also got a mocha frappe with almond milk and no frappe powder and it was super super bitter. I honestly couldn’t taste the chocolate. It was like blended coffee. The place does have a good vibe, friendly staff, and many vegan options though.

Pros: Good vibe, Friendly staff , Lots of vegan options

Cons: Vegan options are just okay at best

Love Zippys!

This cafe has the best atmosphere and amazing and unique vegan options!! Plus some of the best hummus I’ve ever had omg. Last time I was there it was poetry night and it was so fun to see a community of city folk gathering to share their art and enjoy each other!

Pros: Friendly staff, Creative environment, A delicious variety of healthy food options!!

Will not return...

We waited 45-60 minutes for our order even though the restaurant was empty. The food here was disappointing. The waffles were very bland, dense, and has a strange aftertaste. My kids would not even eat them. We also had the biscuits and gravy, the vegan tuna melt and several other items. We were not impressed with any of them. The espresso was also quite bitter. We will not be going back.

Pros: Vegan options clearly marked on menu

Cons: Poor food quality

Good options

I stopped here on they way through town. They havd lots of vegan and raw vegan options, including vegan cheese. I was very pleased they had gluten-free flour tortillas (made with teff), and I had a wrap that was supposed to have black beans and hummus.

They were out of beans, which I didn't learn until I asked about why there weren't beans in the wrap. The wrap itself could have used more seasoning and moisture, but like maybe a little vinaigrette--or maybe the salsa I was served but couldn't eat (made with bell pepper--allergies). The woman working the kitchen kindly offered a cookie to make up for the missing beans.

I wasn't crazy about the fact that they use a microwave. I also wasn't totally digging the live music, but of course that's subjective.

That said, I would go back if I were again in Everett, and maybe try some coffee.

Oh, I see another reviewer complaining about getting soy sauce with a gluten-free meal--there are several kinds of gluten-free soy sauce available. Since this place is so aware of gluten sensitivities, I would suggest asking before assuming the soy sauce has wheat.

Pros: Good variety of veg foods, Accommodating staff

Cons: Slightly pricy , Distinctive vibe some may not like

Will Not be Eating Here Again.

I have tried to like this place. I have given them a few chances. Today I ordered the Gluten Free raw vegan nori wraps. They served it with soy sauce!! For those who are uniformed soy sauce is made from wheat!!! This is so dangerous and unacceptable. I will not be back.

Pros: vegan friendly , community space, organic

Cons: not aware of GF restrictions
