Small and basic dishes

I tried the « curry ». It was just a small plate with some cheak pies, vegetables and a sauce. It was good but simply and too small.

Cons: Not easy for english speakers

Lovely place, many options

All dishes we had were tasty, esp. the tom-yum soup with tofu. Almost everything is clearly marked raw, with sugar or containing dairy with a good choice of courses. Everything that is not specially marked ist vegan.

Pros: English menu, Nice interior, main dishes, starters, deserts & smoothies

Good desserts

Nice place located close to the city center. There are 2 floors: on the 1st there’s buffet and on the 2nd - restaurant. All the vegan options are marked in the menu. Food on the 2nd floor is a bit pricey and the service is a bit slow. I wasn’t impressed with the main course but their desserts are really delicious.
Would recommend it as a coffee place with good vegan sweets.

Mixed feelings.

I went twice. One experience was much better than the other. So I have mixed feelings about this place. The raw lasagna is like a starter so don’t get that if you are hungry. The pad Thai was tasty but nothing like a pad Thai and small portion too. Service can be slow. Went for breakfast on another day and the tofu scramble was delicious and a good portion for breakfast. Prices are on the higher side for St. Petersburg’s standards. Desserts are very good.

Pros: Small menu with 50% vegan options , Good breakfast selection, English menu

Cons: Small portions , Not much of an atmosphere , Slow service at times

really good food

This review is for the second floor of Ukrop, which is where the full-service restaurant is located. I didn't try the cafeteria on the 1st floor.

First off, there's an English menu and several staff who can speak English. Such a lifesaver! I would highly recommend their black truffle rice along with their pumpkin soup. So good! The portion sizes in Russia tend to be smaller but this was just the right amount of food for my hangry self. I also tried their tofu steak dish on another night and while it was good, it didn't have quite the depth of flavor as their black truffle rice.

I loved the atmosphere here which was very relaxed and chill with great music in the background. It's a good place to go if you're on your own and want some downtime. Special mention should go to my server who was awesome and spoke excellent English.

Great for breakfast

I only tried the café upstairs since the buffet had not opened yet, and I was pleasantly surprised. They have a bunch of vegan cakes (berry cheesecake, orange and chocolate etc) and fresh smoothies! I recommend the tofu scramble wrapped in chickpea omelette and those weird looking pancake balls!

Pros: tasty food, nice&clean setting, English menu

no a lot of vegan options

It's hard to know what's vegan as there's no English on any of the labels. Staff can speak a little English and it's a buffet that you pay by weight.

Pros: friendly staff

Cons: no English

Good, but not amazing

This is another "choose from the bar" type of place, and it was good, but it's more expensive than others for the same food.

Staff members were friendly across the language barrier, and there was nothing 'bad,' it just didn't stand out.

Pros: No meat, Friendly

Cons: More expensive than similar offerings

Nice restaurant, tasty food, vegan options

Very nice restaurant near Dostoïevski Museum. One ambient at the ground floor and another one at the first floor (we were there). Food is delicious, speacially the noodle with vegetables and
mushrooms. The waistresse is very kind and speaks english. English menu. Vegan options and vegan deserts. Confortables chairs and nice atmosphere. Books and games are available. For french or english people, the prices in this restaurant are cheap. We use to eat for 15 euros per dish in Paris and here it's only 4 euros ! We tried several restaurants in Saint-Pétersbourg and Ukrop is our favorite for ambience, delicious food and cheap price. Take away is possible.

Pros: inexpensive/moderate, fast / english menu / kind waistress, delicious food / nice ambience

Cons: small portions

Vagetarian cafe Ukrop, Marata 23, St. Petersburg

“Ukrop” – is a remarkable place in Petersburg. A café with a singular vegetarian cuisine, unique interior design with restful and cosy atmosphere. In two years “Ukrop” florihed into three cafes and each of them has its own concept and individuality.

“Ukrop” on Marata St. 23rd, a café and bistro spread on two floors. You can eat a quick and hearty meal in the bistro, whilst in a restaurant upstairs you may deliberate over a dinner and relax sitting at a tactile table with little stones or nuts.

The three cafes are different but have similar original vegetarian dishes, cheerful interiors and a changeless warm welcome.

Lovely place

I ate here twice on a trip to St Petersburg. The decor is lovely, bright and modern, the service was good and the staff friendly. All of the food I ordered (vegan) was delicious, and some gave me ideas for things to try at home. I was very happy to find such a nice vegetarian place in a not so vegetarian town. Would go again!

Pros: tasty food, lots of vegan options

Cons: smallish portions, no chocolate dessert on menu

stunningly!!!!!the best саfe in Russia!

Best vegan and raw restaurant in St. Petersburg and Russia!
The cafe is located in the heart of a 4-minute walk from Nevsky street. an institution 2 floors.
on the 1st floor - a bistro, everything is very tasty and not expensive) salads (6-7 kinds each day), hot dishes (lasagna, potato gratin, chickpeas, vegetables), soups, desserts are divine! all very nice) can be at 5 euros a very satisfying meal. 80%-vegan dishes.
on the 2nd floor restaurant with author's cuisine a la carte. Here you can experience a gastronomic pleasure, in the truest sense of the word! dishes are very beautifully decorated, amazingly tasty) there are very many positions RAW-gpitstsa, cutlets, vegan balls, pasta, lots of cakes and pastries. There falafel, dumplings with cottage cheese and arugula, balls with green Peas and pistachios, roasted potatoes and a lot of the other) on the menu all the icons marked options-RAW, Vegetarian or vegan, which is very convenient! have a menu in English and friendly and caring staff! very beautiful design and lots of trees, greenery and light! To my surprise and happiness, there is no menu at all soy and soy meat, no seitan! lovely atmosphere and pleasant service!
This cafe is peace and love, and it seems that the entire staff is doing their job with love and gratitude!! I would say that it is not only the best саfe in Russia, but perhaps also in Europe!

A Must-Visit

This is two restaurants in one. The first floor is casual with ordering out of a deli case. Upstairs is a charming sit-down restaurant, tastefully decorated with modern and festive fixtures. They claimed to have an English language menu, but none were available on my visit. Instead, one of the servers spoke competent English and patiently explained each menu choice to me. There were numerous vegan options, and they are separately identified on the menu.

I ordered a “Mexican” barley soup, raspberry-cherry dumplings and apple strudel—ALL VEGAN. The Mexican soup was bland and uninspired. It was thin on the barley and had no Mexican-style spicing at all; I presume what made it “Mexican” was some parsley. The dumplings were amazing. The humble-looking and plain dumplings were filled with cherries and raspberries and then covered with a raspberry drizzle. Though the dumplings sound like a dessert, they were savory. The berry sourness with a little sweetness mixed with the plain dumplings worked incredibly well—the flavors were sophisticated, nuanced and unexpected. Recommended. The apple strudel was very good and I had a hard time believing that it was vegan (though the English-speaking server repeatedly confirmed that they were). Overall, the combination of the lovely décor and the successful vegan dishes made this restaurant a must-visit on any vegetarian tour of St. Petersburg.

Delicious and healthy, stylish and relaxed space

The cafe downstairs is swish, with sleek decor and a trendy feel, but in a relaxed Scandinavian sort of way. You get your food at the counter and then choose a table, and can stay for hours. Prices are great value - I got a small soup, salad and main dish for 280 roubles. They have some traditional Russian dishes (including some delicious croquette things) as well as international-style dishes. 90 percent of the dishes are vegan, and there are plenty of raw salads as well. There are also gluten-free options. I went back a few times while I was in St Petersburg. I had many of their delicious salads - including seaweed, cabbage, cucumber and fresh herbs, beetroot, and creamy beans. They also have tofu dishes and hot dishes with chickpeas, buckwheat, black beans etc. Everything I had was delicious, fresh, creative and healthy. Serving sizes are modest, so you can sample a number of different dishes if you wish. The music selection was also great - kind of chilled out and moody.

The upstairs restaurant is more fine-dining, with gourmet raw (and cooked) creations. The menu is split roughly into one third raw vegan, one third cooked vegan and one third vegetarian - clearly marked. Prices are higher than downstairs. Expect to pay around 500 roubles for a starter and main. But it's worth it - the food is beautifully crafted. I had a raw borsht, and the raw green burgers, which were marvellous. They also have lots of spectacular raw vegan desserts. I had a raw pumpkin cake that I can honestly say was the best dessert I've had in my life! It was perfectly balanced, delicious yet healthy, and cruelty-free.

Both upstairs and downstairs, there's no English on the menu, but the friendly workers spoke English and were happy to help me choose what I wanted and point out what is vegan.

Pros: Mostly vegan, Delicious and healthy food, Stylish space, superb raw desserts
