Happy cow lists this place as having meat but it doesn't. It is app vegetarian and maybe even all vegan. It is a cafe associated with Centro MAM (mujeres ayudando madres- women helping mothers) which is a center for aiding with natural births, breast feeding and expecting mothers in general.
It is a small cafe tucked back in off he street but it is rather easy to find. A sign clearly shows where to park ( free parking in a patrolled lot!) they have a few sandwiches and hot entrees and lots of juices and smoothies- all made with coconut milk! I had the falafel burger which was really tasty on a perfect bun and my husband had the special which was a curried rice with nuts inside of a cooked cabbage leaf. It came with a side salad and a cooked carrot and onion combo which was really delicious! I also had the cafe frappe (coffee smoothie) which was made with coconut milk, coffee and cinnamon- great as well!
A definite must try with affordable prices and great food!
Note: they are having a inauguration event tonight and based on a conversation I overheard they may be moving or adding additional hours or both so call in advance. They speak English as well as Spanish.
Cons: only open until 5 but that may be changing
