So many vegan options!

Posted on 06 / 17 / 2015

Literally almost everything on the menu can be made vegan!! Breakfast options include vegan french toast, vegan scramble, vegan breakfast burrito. Lunch includes cold and hot sandwiches, soup, huge salads + a sesame "hand salad" that's a burrito-sized spring roll, a couple bowls with rice and veggies, and even banana "ice cream." You can also order smoothies, beer/wine, and espresso drinks.

The staff is also WONDERFUL -- very friendly and conscientious of allergies/different diets/eating styles. And super friendly on top :) iI you're vegan and in Reno, check this place out for casual & very satisfying eats.

They are really trying!

Cafe Delux is on the right track and I appreciate how hard they are trying to have vegan options. My partner had the tofu scramble which was quite delicious and flavorful with fried potatoes inside of it and topped with vegan sour cream and guacamole. So far that would be my number one recommendation. The Flying Squirrel is good in that peanut sauce is always good, but it is a little boring with just tofu, rice, greens, and peanut sauce. They have a lot of salads and raw wraps on the menu, but not a lot of hearty veggie food. They sometimes have a vegan dessert, but not all of the time.

Pros: vegan options, nice diner atmosphere, kind servers
Cons: too many salads, not enough entrees

Great new resto!

Cafe Deluxe just opened in July 2013 and they were bustling when I visited. Lots of juices and smoothies and their homemade chai latte (with almond milk) was great if you want something warmer. Lots of salads to choose from and some raw meals, too (wraps, hummus, etc). They have a vegan veggie burger and you can get tofu scramble from their brunch menu. I opted for their brown rice bowl with tofu and steamed seasonal veggies with a peanut sauce. It was very tasty. Not too much food and the price was right. Their baked desserts weren't vegan but they plan to add that in the months to come. Other vegan snacks available for purchase, like kale chips.

Pros: smaller portions, healthy options
