The Bhakti Center's latest cafe, began food service since Oct 2013 (was Bhakti Buffet). It's buffet style, located on the first floor, with free Wi-Fi. Soups, sandwiches, and salad bar are available throughout the day. Has gluten-free options. A gift shop sells eastern clothing, meditation japa beads, home decor, jewerly, books on Vedic philosophy, musical instruments, and music CDs. In 2016 it re-launched the Bhakti Buffet as Taste of Bhakti, a fully vegan cafe. Pay per item. SEP 2016 REPORTED SHUT.

Generous Portions , Friendly Staff

The Taste of Bhakti has all-vegan buffet style hot lunch & dinner dishes, and a salad bar and desserts. The prices are reasonable and portions are generous, with servers behind the buffet to explain the menu and offer take-out containers for any leftovers. The menu is South Asian influenced , with a home-cooked vibe; several items are gluten-free . The ground floor space is bright and tranquil, with large wood tables in the back, and cafe style stools near the entrance. This is a good place for groups and/or singles to sit, enjoy the quiet, welcoming ambiance, and get a lot of food for a quite moderate price. The center has yoga, meditation , martial arts and other classes , and there's a small sales area at the back of the restaurant with clothing and other items.

Pros: Moderate prices, Friendly staff, Quiet

Good (Casual) Sunday Brunch Option

My family and I visited the Bhakti Center, during a recent trip to New York for their Sunday Brunch. This is a nice, casual location, with a variety of vegan options on the bar. I don't believe that they consistently offer the same options (from looking at their facebook page), but we tried a variety of options they were offering on their bar that particular day. We were a bit deceived by the Happy Cow description -- this is not a Buffet style restaurant, but rather a location in which you can choose a set number of items (there are a few different plate options) off of the food bar, served by the individual behind the counter. They may have buffet style meals on other occasions, but the restaurant is not set up to offer buffet style meals on a daily basis. The staff was extremely friendly, and we certainly got more than enough to eat. Give them a try if you are in the area.

Pros: Good Food, Friendly Staff
