Review: If you live in a great Tex-Mex food town like San Antonio, you might still be able to find some veggie selections on other menus. Why would you go here?
You would be better off just sticking to the guacamole and corn tortillas anywhere else.
Pros: Great Decor * Prompt Waiter *
Cons: Bland Food * Don't take Visa * |

Review: This place is the best Mexican restaurant in San Antonio, and for vegetarians this is a true world class restaurant! Adelante serves authentic Mexican food with variety to please almost everyone. The entrée choices range from less spice, salt and fat (some would say bland, I would say simple and basic) to the most incredible Poblano pepper enchilada you'll ever have. Their sweet potato fries ordered with queso dip make for a wonderful appetizer. The Adelante puffy tacos are fantastic; they are fried in canola oil so they are light and relatively healthy. Things I wish Adelante would change: I wish the guacamole was more consistent, some days it is great and other days it is just ok. Also their basic salsa served with the chips is a roasted pico de gallo salsa, so you have to order a side of fresh pico de gallo if you don't like roasted salsas.
Pros: Excellent food * Healthy choices * Very friendly staff
Cons: No outdoor seating * * |

Review: Adelante is great for going out for good vegetarian Mexican food. Their tamales, beans, veggie quesidillas, are all really great. The whole wheat tortillas are not vegan though. Just make sure to check with the staff if you are vegan because there are some seeminlgy vegan things that aren´t!
Pros: Fresh * Healthy * Delicious
Cons: Non Vegan Tortillas ;( * * |

Review: I went with a group that had 3 omnivores and 4 vegetarians. Everyone found lots of choices to their liking. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of vegetarian tamales available. The black beans and brown rice were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The whole wheat tortillas were thick yet flexible. Why didn't this place exist when I *lived* in San Antonio?!
Pros: variety of choices * great flavor * casual setting
Cons: a little loud * * |
