Review: After walking into the wrong place, which is "Darshan" next door,(if you saw the Hindu and Buddhist imagery in Darshan you may understand why) we were off to a bad start. Once in the correct place, which is like a health food shop selling simple meals we asked a girl working there what was there to eat, she had limitted english and showed us the dish of the day, it looked like a soupy stewy potato and pea affair and I didnt fancy it. Suddenly my partner noticeced a menu on the table that said what was on offerin english , she had falafel I had Seitan, both in Pitta. We automatically got vegan mayo as the sauce, then realised after could have chosen something else.
We had come here because a map from the hostel advertised in glowing terms its alcohol free cocktails, these seemed to be unavailable. We bought samosas and other savouries to eat later, the samosas were good but the others were very disapointing. I think the worst thing was not the lack of english spoken, but the lack of confidence, it was like she just wanted to serve us something easy and not have to communicate anything, I feel she was terrified of asking what sauce we wanted on the falafel or telling us where the menu was, or asking if we wanted a drink.
Pros: good pitta * nice interior *
Cons: no communication * small menu * easy to miss |

Review: I went to this place on October 25, 2008 (at 2pm). Biopont was one of the hints that I found in a quite good Hungarian Veggie-book, so I was eager to try it out...and was badly disappointed. The first thing that struck me was a billboard at the entrance showing two different meat dishes (chicken and beef). Nonetheless, I entered the quite pleasant and inviting courtyard. The first impression was quickly exchannged by the secon: the waiters walked around keeping a straight face which even did not change the moment that I adressed them in Hungarian (by the way, I am Hungarian). Looking at the menue, I asked myself if this was the right place I had came to. The only vegetarian dishes were some soups, 2 salads, pasta with tomatoe sauce, 3 different veggie pizzas, and finally my coice: grilled mozzarella seved with oily vegetables. Although I was hungry, I left half of the portion untouched on my plate. Prices are reasonable though. I can not tell anything about the organic shop as it was closed during my visit. I won't go there once again.
Pros: nice courtyard * organic shop *
Cons: bad value/oily food * unfriendly staff * |

• i am agree with marnia, you didn't eat at Biopoint. I walked into the courtyard as well. Biopoint was to your right before you entered the courtyard.. response by tofutodd
• You made the same mistake I nearly did, we walked in the door, I was convinced WE had found it, but my partner disagreed, so she asked the waiter before we sat "vegetarian?" "no, vegetarian next door" was his reply.
We then somewhere that was far from perfect but in line with what we expected, and very very veggie. So when you wrote "I asked myself if this was the right place I had came to". response by marnia

Review: I have just came back from there. There was a young girl who spoke very little English, but was very polite and friendly. The only food available was a potato soup, which was served cold. I had to tell her to please, warm it up for me. On a window shelf, there were little baked/fried patties with different fillings. We ordered three of different sort, don't know which one was worse: Cold, dry and tasteless.
The salads on a corner fridge looked old. This place is also a bio-store. Convenient if you need to buy vegan packed food on a Sunday, to bring back to the hotel, Otherwise, try to visit during a weekday. I have not been, but I guess it must be way better than on a Sunday afternoon.
Pros: Service * Open Sundays * Bio-products
Cons: Food * * |

Review: Visited September 07. The only woman there spoke little to no english. She was the cook as well and we had a long wait. There are daily specials (no english) and we arrived late so today's special. The menu was in english and there were several vegan options such as sandwiches. Nearly all the deserts were vegan though, and very good!
Pros: Fairly priced * vegan options * vegan desserts
Cons: language barrier * long wait * |

Review: BioPont is NOT 100% vegan and a lot of the items served have dairy in them. The falafel was good (though you need to specify no yoghurt) and the salads were fantastic but the 'meatball' sandwich was disappointing. BioPont also has a good grocery section which is really useful in Hungary (if you're there on a Sunday count on pretty much everywhere being closed - this place was an exception!). Good coffee and (despite the other review) we had really helpful staff who spoke really good English - especially compared to our Hungarian!!
Pros: Open Sundays * Good quality food *
Cons: Limited vegan choices * * |
