Review: Of all the Indian restaurants I've tried in St. Louis, Raj's is by far my favorite. I've probably eaten at Raj's about 40 times, and the food's always delicious! My favorite dishes are the Muligatawny soup and the Tikka Masala, and the Vegetable Korma is hugely popular among my friends. I especially love the buffet, which is open every day for lunch, and has an assortment of vegetarian dishes. Raj's is not a huge place, so the buffet's pretty small (maybe 5-6 main dishes, plus sides, breads, rice, desserts), but it's always good. The food is very reasonably priced; you can get the buffet or a dinner box for only $7.
Raj's was voted best vegetarian in the Riverfront Times last year. I normally find that I completely disagree with their reviews, but in this case they got it right!
The decor is a bit lacking, though they have recently expanded and have started making some improvements. The people on staff (all family members of Raj's) are very helpful and accomodating, as is Raj himself - he once offered to teach my boyfriend how to cook Indian food! The service is sometimes a little slow, so be prepared to stay awhile, but the food makes it well worth the wait.
Pros: Delicious! * Affordable * Great buffet
Cons: Decor is a bit lacking * Service is sometimes a little slow * |

Review: If someone had not told me about this restaurant, which is practically in my backyard, I would not have known it existed. My first visit here was on Easter Sunday 2008. The place has since done some renovating and expanded it's dining room area. The staff is very friendly and graciously circled which items were already vegan and which could be made vegan for me. When I come for the buffet, they again point out which foods are vegan. AND they even brought out some vegan bread for me. Also, in the event that there aren't several vegan items on the buffet, they are more than willing to cook up something extra just for vegan-you!
The food is very good. They went up on the menu prices a little, but they're still reasonable. The buffet price is an exceptional value!
Pros: affordable * great food, excellent/authentic spices * friendly staff
Cons: * * |

Review: I've been here before and really enjoyed it. Over Thanksgiving break, I went again for their lunch buffet, and found their selection to be very limited. They did not replace the food at all even though they still had over an hour left until the end of the buffet period. Everything was overly salty and condensed-tasting. I had good experiences here before and really looked forward to it, but this last experience just made me very disappointed. Hopefully it was just a one-time thing.
Pros: $6 lunch buffet * Free canned drink * Quiet
Cons: Small buffet selection * Food not refreshed * Naan was overly greasy |

Review: I'm very disappointed that they discontinued the Vegan cupcakes...they were good. The food is still good and staff is friendly...it's a little difficult to find since it's tucked away in Creve Coeur.

Review: Raj is very nice, in fact, he remembered me from Gokul! He saw me somewhere in public, recognized me, and gave me a card for his restaurant. I ate there soon after, it must've been when they first opened because the décor and lighting wasn't all that great; hopefully they've fixed that since I've been there – I do understand they'd just opened however.
When I was there I inquired about the Vegan cupcakes and was told at the time that I had to preorder them [this may not be the case now], so if it's your first time and you want cupcakes, call ahead of time. Luckily, someone didn't pick up their order, so my friend and I gladly took them off of their hands...and they were good!

Review: Raj is such and amazing cook! Everything is so smooth and flavorful. His family staff is extremely friendly and helpful. My favorite dishes are: Aloo Gobi, Vegetable Pakora, Channa Masala, Yellow Daal, & Cholle Puri. The restaurant is 100% veg but just make sure you specify Vegan because they will put butter on the Roti. Plus the green sauce is not Vegan!!
Pros: Cholle Puri * "Vegan" items listed * Vegan Cupcakes
Cons: Oil * * |

Review: This place is close to both work at home but is tucked away into a little out of the way stripmall. It is worth finding. I have patronized many Indian restaurants over the years but hands down this is my all time favorite. I have eaten there probably 20 times and everything I have tried has been absolutely delicious. I raved about this place to my mother who lives out of state and when she visited for a month we ate there about 2 or 3 times a week! The staff is friendly and hard working.
Pros: excellent food * excellent value * huge portions
Cons: * * |

Review: I went here for the lunch buffet with a bunch of co-workers - some were new to Indian food, some had been eating in Indian restaurants for years. We all thought the food was very flavorful and nicely spiced. I thought it was the best Indian food I have had in St. Louis. Decor, however, is very sparse, but the food makes up for it.

Pros: food * choice * price
Cons: sparse decor * plasticware * |
