Review: Upon entering, the very nice server gave me an option of seating and (unasked) immediately brought out samples of their soups today. While very friendly, the server didn't seem to know the menu very well, and gave me a strange vibe in general. I ordered the Burrito in a Bowl and a cup of veggie soup. I asked for it to be "vegan" and "wheat-free" as suggested by the menu. He didn't understand and even after I pointed it out on the menu and explained what I meant, he still managed to get my order wrong (forgot the tofu-chipotle sauce).
However, despite these drawbacks, the food was FANTASTIC. The veggie soup was delish and the "burrito" both looked and tasted great. A bit on the pricey side, but I probably will return in the future.
Pros: great food! * *
Cons: weird service * could be more vegan friendly * |

Review: I used to be a devoted regular at the Moose back when Sheila owned it and I have seen the changes that have occurred since. The food is not half as good and the new owner's vibe is a little weird. On the positive side, the service has always been friendly and it is a really great place for kids.
Pros: healthy * vegan friendly * nice servers
Cons: a little run-down * so-so food * |

Review: I learned that this restaurant changed ownership and is struggling with its new profile. You can feel the blocked chi when you enter. But I had the loveliest cup of soup and half sandwich on my visit. Some bold sun darted through a heavy cloud cover to brighten our table. We spoke of too much rain for the lettuce starts and the expense of a zinc rinse on the roof this season. A nice woman with a full pitcher of water visited us often. We said, "There is so much love in this restaurant."
Pros: Light * Love * Laughter
Cons: * * |

Review: Well, I guess now that they are under new ownership, they are not as vegan friendly as they were before. We used to get take out there a lot, but today, for the second time, I got a tofu scramble covered in cheese. NO THANKS! I will not be returning.
How sad. We used to love them. My kids especially loved it there.
Pros: location * *
Cons: cheese. everywhere. * * |

Review: I went to Blue Moose for the first time for breakfast this morning, I went early so it wasn't busy and we got nice relaxing service. I got a vegan tofu scramble burrito with avocado subbed for cheese and it was delicious. The vegan magic bread was too good to be eating for breakfast. My partner had polenta with avocado and it was well seasoned and moist. Coffee with soy cream and raw sugar was good too.
Their vegetarian menu looks great, you have to be a little savy as vegan to get the good stuff but they seem very happy to work with you. I will be going back sometime soon for the eggless (tofu) salad sandwich and soup.
Pros: some really cheap choices * tasty * peaceful and cute
Cons: some spendy choices * vegan cheese would be good * |

Review: I like much of the food here but wish it was more vegan-friendly. They will let you substitute avocado for cheese, but they do not offer a vegan cheese and I don't think a grilled avocado sandwich would be quite the same. Otherwise the food we were able to have was great. The portions are quite large. The pancakes, tofu salad, raspberry lemonade, and vegan baked goods were all great. We received prompt and friendly service.
Pros: Strawberry lemonaid * Good food * Good service
Cons: No vegan cheese * Could be more vegan-friendly * |

Review: This cafe was everything that I could have hoped that it would be! I got a delicious lentil soup and a half hummus tower sandwich for less then ten dollars. The also have a nice selection of vegan desserts, try the moose bark- a vegan rice crispy treat, it was wonderful! My husband had a corn chowder, also completely vegan that he said was great. This cafe was very much a homestyle restaurant. Everything could have been made at home but was from a restaurant! When you are in a far away town this is a dwon home place to stop by!
Pros: Homey * Delicious * inexpensive
Cons: * * |

Review: I stumbled upon the Blue Moose Cafe by chance. I walked inside and saw the beautiful display of vegan baked goods. I grabbed a menu and sat down. The menu was impressive, a wide variety of food ranging from vegan pancakes, salads, teas, coffee, burritos, egg and tofu scramble, soups, sandwiches (offered spelt bread which was so great, being a wheat free vegan is always a difficulty.)I went for the tofu you, which is an eggless egg salad on a sandwich. It was amazing, it tasted like real egg salad. It also came with a small mexed greens salad with lemon tahini dressing. The service was very friendly and fast. I never saw the bottom of my cup. Check this place out for sure if you have a change.
Pros: spelt bread * friendly and fast service * great menu options
Cons: * * |

Review: I was very impressed with the vegan pancakes (with vegan butter). Delicious! A very gracious restaurant: we were given samples of the soup immediately upon being seated, and offered refills on freshly-made lemonade (a first!). The "Tofu You" (egg salad sandwich) looks and tastes authentic, and the burritos are humongous. Humorous wall-art. Probably not the best in town, but well worth a visit.
Pros: Gracious hosts * Family-friendly * Good food
Cons: No actual blue moose ;) * * |

Review: The Blue Moose is amazing! I have been several times and can never decide what I love the most. Colcannon is probably the winner, yummy smashed potatoes with just enough garlic! Tofu scrambles--especially Jack and the Beanstalker! oh and the Pancakes! Everything is wonderful. The atmosphere is so cozy, there is always a newspaper to read or you can enjoy one of the many, many children's books! The staff is friendly and beautiful and the owner always has a smile and makes a point to say hello to everyone! I will go back again and again.
Pros: Friendly staff * Excellent food *

Review: Trying something new ( for us) my wife and i went to the Blue Moose wich we saw driving on Fremont. Too many tables in the room. Can't move or sit without someone kicking your chair. Thought the food must be AMAZING considering they were packed. Ummm.... HORRIBLE! A 9 dollar grilled cheese and they couldn't get the no onions request right. The cheese WASN'T EVEN MELTED. Couldn't eat the salad because the dressing tasted like compost. Sorry, not trying to be mean, but, WOW, HORRIBLE.

Cons: * * |

• Hmmm, unless things have changed dramatically during the time between your visit and mine, I would say that the restaurant isn't crowded at all, and I am not exactly a skinny girl. Give them another chance... Definitely not a 2-star restaurant!. response by mute-Ade
• Dear Xfantastic,
Blue Moose appreciates your feedback. We can do better and wish you'd give us another chance. Unfortunately you caught us on a bad day. Make sure you ask for Sheila when you return and we'll buy your next meal to make up for the lousy experience last Thursday. Peace.. response by leafandbean

Review: I liked being served soup samples when we sat down. I even ordered two of the dishes that we sampled. We also got the potatoes and kale, which I thought was really good, and I liked the kale. It was spiced just right. I didn't try any desserts because none met my fancy. The place was clean but the service was not all that friendly. However, I liked that it was healthy and all vegetarian, so I would probably go back again.
Pros: Soup Samples * Clean *
Cons: Different area than most vegan places * * |

Review: The blue moose has a simple menu typical of many traditional veg. resturants with several salads. There are no fake meats, only tofu. Despite this, the entrees are pleasant and represent a great value. The food is light and healthy. They also have baked goods for sale and had free apples this fall. The owner is the cook and there is usually one person waiting on tables, so there can be a wait for your food or bill. The small space is frequently filled giving is a cozy feel. Vegans get avocado instead of cheese for n/c.
Pros: Great value * Cheap baked goods * Healthly &Wholesome
Cons: Not fully vegan * Somewhat limited menu * When busy you will wait |
