Review: The place has a pretty cool atmosphere, and nice location. The people working there are all really friendly and helpful, and will substitute soy cheese for cheese if you ask. You do have to ask for your food to be vegan though, I really prefer when it just says vegan on the menu.

I didn't try the salad bar, but it looked good. The sandwiches are really good, and they have god smoothies too.

Pros: quick * *
Cons: not all vegan * must specify vegan *

Review: Unfortunately, I was far less impressed with Grilla Bites than the previous reviewer. I ordered a veggie grilla sandwich with no cheese nor tomatoes. When I received my sandwich, it had tomatoes. I'm allergic to tomatoes so asked them to remake it, since when I pulled the tomato off my sandwich, there were still tomato seeds and juices on the sandwich. They remade my sandwich, but this added cheese. Rather than asking them to remake it a third time, I asked for my money back.

Other info:
* Well-stocked organic salad bar which has Annie's Goddess dressing.
* There is a vegan-friendly selection, but the menu, salad bar, and soup-area are not well-labeled. The only way to figure out what is vegan is to ask questions. For example, there is a veggie burger on the men as well as a tempeh burger. If you want to know if the veggie burger is vegan, or the roll, etc., you'll need to ask. Ditto for the soups. Three out of today's four soups were vegan, as I found out from asking, b/c none of the ingredients were labeled.

The previous reviewer thought the prices were very reasonable. However, the salad bar, albeit organic, costs $8.45 a lb, which in my experience is on the high end. The two veggie grilla sandwiches (which can be veganized by leaving off dairy ingredients) cost $8.50 for a whole or $5.25 for a half. The veggie grilla has various veggies with guacamole and hummus, and the other is a BST (soy bacon, spinach, red onion, mozzarella, and ranch dressing). The three tofu grilla sandwiches (organic tofu, BBQ tofu, and curry tofu) are also the same price. Again, prices on the high end.

One thing that really bothered me here were the food handling practices. None of the food service workers wore gloves when they handled food. I was tempted to order a smoothie but didn't when I saw a staff member putting fruit in the blender with ungloved hands. Another staff member cut veggies w/o using gloves.

Also, this place has poor line setup and queing: You order at the right end of the line, walk over to the left end of the line to start the salad bar, then have to choose one of two cash registers you want to pay at, which have lines from the people ordering. If you have a non-salad order, you have to wait to pay when you have your salad. Thus, if you order salad, you wait in line twice.

Despite a decent selection of organic vegan food, I'm unlikely to return unless they improve their food handling practices and menu/ingredient labeling.

Pros: Much food vegan * Much food organic *
Cons: Food workers don't wear gloves. * Problems getting orders correct. * Poor labeling so have to ask questions.
