Review: Walking past the Hansa shopping center on Yliopistonkatu I saw the Betel-kirko sign and I knew I had found the restaurant Kasvisravintola, which is the word for vegetarian restaurant in Finnish. After walking up for non-handicap friendly stairs you should keep to your left for about 50 metres before entering the door to this cosy vegetarian restaurant. After some initial confusion and discussion in English it turned out that all dishes except for the lasagne were Vegan, and there was a Vegan version of the lasagne. There was also a possibility to get service in Swedish but the menu was in Finnish. They have a paper with the menus of the week, v stands for Vegan and if v is within brackets there exist a separate Vegan version of the dish. There are four dishes each day, one of them a soup and there are many choices when it comes to the salad. This week all dishes came in a Vegan version, milk and butter was available and there were two choices of tee included in meals but no coffee. A buffet were you can take as much as you want cost 9 euros, one plate of food cost 8 euros, one plate of salad cost 6.3 euros, one soup plate of soup also cost 6.3 euros and for children between 7-12 years it costs 4 euros. Evaluation of todays menu. The mushroom soup included what I think was a slightly overcooked vegetable, probably an aubergine, I give the soup a 2.5. The Vegan lasagne I give 3.5, the broccoli and nuts a 3 and the celery and "tattaria" a 3.5. Overall it's a good restaurant with more options and more central location than Keidas, but more expensive except for children and not entirely Vegan. I give this restaurant 3 happy cows and I recommend it to anyone.
