Review: A great little cafe right in the city centre, with a tranquil, friendly atmosphere. Popular with wide variety of age groups, veg*ns and omnivores alike, such is the quality of the food.
Their baked potatoes are delicious: properly baked, crispy skin with fluffy insides. So many places just microwave them now so great to enjoy a correctly cooked spud. Always nice bean based curries to go with the potatoes- a beautifully spiced chickpea curry when I stopped for lunch this week. Various other tasty items on the menu too, although as other members have said, not loads and loads of vegan options but certainly more than they had last year, for example, a vegan cake was available on a recent visit.
Lovely staff too.
Pros: lovely spuds * central *
Cons: daytime only * * |

Review: Love this little place, a smart little cafe with cheap and tasty veggie food although they would benefit from introducing a few more vegan options. Brilliant for a chilled-out lunch in central Liverpool.
Pros: Tasty food * reasonable prices * central location
Cons: Not much vegan selection * Small seating capacity * |

Review: Friendly place with a nice atmposphere. Good vegan choice, main course and salad for 3.95 GBP and various hot and cold drinks available. Usually around 5 main courses available from which you pick the one you want. Not the most outstanding food but hearty and healthy.
Pros: friendly * price *
Cons: no vegan cakes * * |

Review: I find myself eating here with increased regularity and so I feel obliged to update my review.
This is a small, cosy cafe that seems to be becoming increasingly friendly to vegan veggies. When I have been and the soup has been vegan veggie it has been sensational. Approx half of the snack and main dishes on offer (e.g. soya chilli, cauliflower or mushroom curry, roasted veg, humous) are vegan veggie. A mixed plate of the curry, roasted veg and humous to my humble taste buds is sheer delight. For Lacto / ovo veggies they offer the likes of lasagne and quiche. There are also baked potatoes, cous cous, salads etc. Soya milk is now available with tea / coffee.
Easy access for visitors to the city as it is only a few minutes walk from both Lime St and Central stations. Nice atmo and nice staff. I've eaten here with non veggies who haven't complained.
Compared with The Egg Café, The Green Fish Café attracts a crowd that is a bit more mature and a bit more mainstream. Classical music is typically played at the Green Fish.
Suggested improvements:-
* Have the vegan veggie items on the menu board clearly marked as such – it's always nice not to have to ask what is suitable for vegan veggies.
* It seems strange that more often than not the soup isn't vegan veggie friendly. For someone like me who likes a bit of soup it seems strange to restrict the potential number of people interested to lacto veggies only
* The fairly limited opening hours are a shame. The Green Fish is a good spot and it would be nice if it was open more. From discussing with the manager I know that this is something that he would like to do something about
Overall:-
Good food in a nice ambience. This is another Liverpool eatery that is well worth a visit.
Pros: Vegan veggie friendly * Helpful staff *
Cons: Vegan items not marked * Fairly limites hours * |

Review: As another reviewer has said, the vegan options were limited and running out unfortunately. Food very standard and of the type that gives veggie/vegan grub a poor reputation. Also couldn't help noticing that the smoking section isn't exactly separated from the rest of the room and one has to pass through it to reach the toilets although we were lucky and no-one was smoking when we visited (phew). But wish we'd tried the other Liverpool options instead... sorry!
Pros: Some vegan options * Centrally placed * Clean, friendly
Cons: Ran out of food * Smoking area on way to * toilets isn't separated |

Review: This place is splendid ! The food is excellent ! Everytime we've been they have been able to cater for Vegans no problem ! The portion sizes are marvelous ! To be honest I have never been so impressed with a cafe and I can not recommend it more ! If you're in Liverpool forget Egg this place is ACE ! They have a range of drinks and teas, the staff are REALLY friendly and helpful ! It's clean, no sticky tables here! They have local art of a high quality on the walls. Only problem I have is with the opening times, could do with opening later. Other than that it's super !
Pros: Staff are marvelous * portion sizes excellent * top value
Cons: opening times * not open on Sunday * |
