Village Tapovan, Laxman Jhula village, Rishikesh

+91-135-2435558 Type: Lacto, Ovo, Vegan-friendly, Organic, Salad bar, Western, International Info: A wonderful beautiful place to eat and enjoy the day at the Garden that is also a home and school for children(mostly orphans). Restaurant is operated by volunteers and all proceeds go to maintaining the organization. Sometimes the children help out in the restaurant. Breakfast features fruits, hot & cold cereal, breads, and drinks. Lunch set menu consists of organically grown salad greens, fresh baked breads, soup, daal, rice or quinoa, and a cookie. Or you can order a la carte. Sunday brunch features whole grain french toast and waffles. Open Tue-Sun 10am-3pm, and a special Saturday dinner (usually pizza) from 6:30pm. The only place in Laxmanjhula with good coffee and real cappuccino and a must-try ginger honey lemon drink. Expensive for local standards but moderate for foreigners. Directions: Located away from the main part of town, away from the bridge. From the bridge above German bakery (Devraj) restaurant, go up the stairs and make a right, follow the main alleys/tracks around the corners until you see a sign on your right, or just ask someone. A HappyCow favorite! Cash only. Price: Expensive.

Review: Everything is organic in this gem. The view is great, and the food is great. Often served by cute children. This is only a breakfast /lunch-place, not for dinner. They show an environmental friendly movie on Saturday night and serve pizza and popcorn with it! Closed one day pr week, is it thursdays?
This is the only place in the area I would eat a salad.
Pros: Organic * great view * seva
Cons: organic prices * sometimes the kids mix up the order. * |

Review: Loved this place! I made an effort to go here everyday for a brunch or lunch. The organic salad greens are beautifully arranged and very scrumptious. Freshly baked cookies are offered after each meal.
More than the wonderful food, the best thing about Ramana's Garden is the comfortable spacious feel that invites one to join and relax. The coffee is made from imported quality beans which I enjoyed after my meals. The only place I highly recommend when in Laxman Jhula.
Pros: friendly people * good food * beautiful children
Cons: no soymilk * * |
