Review: Tried the "Vegan Wings" on my trip out to DC. THEY WERE GREAT! very tasty. deep-fried with vegan sour cream and hot sauce.

The veggie burger was good too.

Definitely get the grilled cheese. It's a fat-blast attack, but delicious.

Check out this place. Very hip little bar in the Adam's Morgan area.

Pros: vegan wings * grilled cheese * atmosphere
Cons: disinterested staff * slow service *

Review: We got in late from San Diego and went to this place. Wow, what a great bar! I was a little bummed about the beer selection. That's not why we went there-we heard about the vegan food. The bartender was really cool and showed us what they could fix for us at 11:30 at night. We ended up with the nachos-yum! We missed the taco happy-hour. ;( They actually have a full menu with many choices for vegans. We wanted to go back but ran out of time! We will go back next time we are in DC

Review: on a recent visit to DC a friend and I went to Asylum for Sunday Brunch. As has been reported above, the service was disorganized at best, neglectful at worst. Either way, our food was pretty damned good. Their choice in fake cheese was a little suspect, but the french toast and breakfast burrito were both HUGE and satisfying. I'd go back.

We chose it over Java Green (1 because JG was closed and 2 because JG is like, double the price).

Pros: cheap * alcohol * tasty
Cons: lousy service * *

Review: Asylum, a dark biker-style bar in the heart of Adams Morgan, is one of the few places in town where a vegan can get a decent brunch. I wasn't crazy about the french toast, but I do like their pancakes.

They also have vegan appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and entrees for non-brunch hours. However, while the prices for brunch are fairly reasonable, the prices for their lunch and dinner foods are a little high. For example, a fried Portabello Fingers appetizer is $6.95, but you only get four pieces of mushroom. They were very tasty, and I wish the dish contained more of them. They also charge a buck or two to veganize items on the menu.

Luckily, the weekend brunch includes a few lunch-type items, including a truly awesome TLT sandwich, a hummus appetizer, and vegan "wings" (the soy drummettes that appear at many vegetarian and veg-friendly restaurants). And it runs on weekends until 4 p.m.

The best night to go, it would seem, is Tuesdays, when they have vegan night--buy one, get one half-price--and I will probably try to time my visits there for then.

Pros: Good food * Good location * Interesting ambiance
Cons: Spotty service * Prices *

Review: Been here twice now for Sunday brunch. The scrambled tofu dishes are all excellent, and omni friends appreciated a good 'regular' menu as well. Service is pretty spotty, though - getting a table is disorganized, and it takes a looong time to get food (and sometimes it comes out cold).

Pros: great food * soy creamer for coffee * something for everyone
Cons: bad service * long wait *
