Review: We had dinner today at the Leaf Cuisine. It is a
small restaurant at the corner of Beverly Glen Blvd. and Ventura Blvd. We were interested in trying raw food with all the enzymes. The first
thing we had was Middle Eastern Lentil Soup. The soup was warm and had a strong lemon flavor. We had corn chips extra which were very good. My wife next had Veggie Sunburger which had veggie seed croquettes which I sampled. The croquettes
were very good. I had Holy Molly Guacamole. If you don't want to be overcharged $2.00 per salad,
make sure you tell the order person to just have
what is on the menu, or they will charge you $2.00 more per each salad. The salads are enormous, far more than a person can eat. My guacamole was simply green lemon paste. In fact the only things in the whole meal that didn't have a lemon flavor were the corn chips, the veggie croquettes, and the desert. The dessert was Strawberry Mouse Torte which was delicious.
It would seem that there could be many other flavors than lemon for salads. How about garlic, onion, sesmee seed oil flavorings, soy sauce, tomato sauce, mushrooms etc. Guacomole is delicious if it isn't turned into extremely sour lemon paste.
I would suggest that the people at the Leaf Cuisine experiment with other flavors than sour
lemon for their salads. They also should have
one price for their salads instead of a surprize
overcharge of $2.00 per salad when you get your bill.
Pros: Generous portions * good croquettes * good desert
Cons: Sour soup * Lemon sour salad * $4.00 overcharge surprize |

Review: I'm open to the idea of "raw" foods so I tried this place. I left very unsatisfied and "wanting." I understand the concepts of "raw," but the food is stereotypical of what most carnivores are afraid of. I ate the lentil soup and some burrito thing. The recipes could have included fruits to liven up the taste and the food would have been much better. I don't even think my guinea pig would have eaten this stuff. Sorry, but I think there need to be improvements to add flavor. At least garlic. The lemonade was gross btw.
Pros: Filtered water * My friend liked her $9 smoothie * Promotes the environment
Cons: Disgusting flavor of food combos * * |

Review: I've been to Leaf Cuisine twice, and am quite impressed. Here's a link to access their menu: http://www.leafcuisine.com/opening.html So far I've had their tropical smoothie (excellent), blueberry smoothie (good), and Caesar salad (delicious and a huge portion). My partner had their soup of the day (carrot ginger), but it was so thick, it was like mushed carrots and not so tasty. Service is reasonably fast, and the staff friendly.
I recommend that they clean the tables and floors more often, and make the menu more readable from a graphic design perspective.
Pros: Great smoothies * Delicious Caesar Salad * Organic
Cons: Parking can be difficult * Should clean more often * |

Review: i am very impressed by leaf. delicious raw food and a certified green restaurant. they have wraps (kale leaf, but also available is a non raw sprouted grain wrap), salads, smoothies, fresh juices, raw desserts, appetizers, and daily specials like pizza, rawsagna, and squash pasta. it's a little pricey compared to my favourite raw cafe in washington state but everything in socal is so i can't really complain. their vegetable sunburger wrap is absolutely delicious and though the bombay burger is pretty good too (and the girl working told me it would be my favourite) it did not blow me away. however i have very strange tastes and feel that the bombay would probably be a big hit with people who are new to the whole idea of raw food cuisine. also very good (and healthy compared to it's non raw alternative) is the strawberry mousse torte. yum! my all time fave however is their spirulina, sprouted grains, and other stuff cookie that they sell next to the register. when i asked the girl behind the counter about them she said they "didn't taste bad..." but i think they're great and now find myself craving them! the only thing i've ordered and didn't finish where their flax seed crackers (they were good but a little too salty on their own, i should have gotten some hummus or guac to go with.) i can't wait to go back and try their pizza (each time i've ordered it they're sold out) and the meditteranean medley wrap.
Pros: delicious/healthy food * certified green * pickup/delivery available
Cons: can get pricey * * |

Review: Thank goodness for Leaf. It is one of the few restaurants in the valley where all raw, organic live foods and fresh juices ARE the daily specials... everyday.
Pros: clean * healthy food * good vibes
Cons: * * |
