Review: This bright, open little cafe offers a really fantastic brunch in the very hip short north area. There are tables outside if you dine here in nice weather. You order at the counter and food is brought to you after you order. It always seems to be crowded so plan for a wait. It is well worth it though. The food is standard breakfast fare exactly as it should be! I had the mushroom and cheese omlette and adored it.
Pros: great area * great brunch * outside seating
Cons: crowded * expect a wait * |

Review: While we appreciate that they make the attempt, the veg food could be better. Lots of dairy in use here:(
Everything feels overpriced, and we're considerably lighter in the pocket after a meal. The drinks are good, but ridiculously high.
Too, too, too much emphasis placed on uninteresting carbs (bread, rice, more bread) and not enough creativity with proteins. I always feel as if I've eaten concrete after a meal there.
They really need to embrace, and work on their vegan cuisine, because, after all, many of yesterday's vegetarians are now going vegan.
In their favor, the restaurants are cute (steel and glass, LOVE that look).
Pros: downtown location * tasty ginger ale *
Cons: Too much dairy in use * lack of vegan creativity * $$$$$ |

Review: My husband and I decided to give Northstar a try after hearing rave reviews from friends and being assured that they had a lot of vegan options. As it turns out, their vegan offerings are VERY slim. (Unless you want to count granola and some other odds and ends.) The Northstar burger is what we wound up with and, while good and VERY generously portioned, was not the most delicious thing I've ever eaten considering it was one of the most expensive items on the menu. On the whole, the food was fine but too limited in choice for us. Check out their menu online before you go.
Pros: nice decor * great juice bar * trendy
Cons: rather expensive * loud * few vegan options |

Review: Not only do they use local, organic ingredients, but the food is top-notch. Many items can be made vegan, and they also have an excellent juice selection (as well as a killer ginger ale). The Northstar burger was incredible (albeit a little difficult to eat with a substituted non-dairy mammoth Focaccia bun), and all the ingredients tasted so fresh and delectable. There's something for everyone here, the location is awesome, and they have a wonderful magazine selection to peruse while waiting for your food. My partner and I went twice in one weekend, and each time the restaurant was very busy. Also, tips are built into the cost, a European aspect that we found very pleasing.
Pros: vegan-friendly * local, organic food * location
Cons: * * |

Review: The food here is excellent, the menu is small and the drink menu is limited too. The menu has just enough on it for us, but I wish they had a larger drink menu. (such as, more than one beer to choose from). We have eaten at both of their locations many times and have never had a meal that wasn't delicious. But... There are so many others that feel the same, therefore, unless you get here early or on a slower day, you will have to wait a bit to get your food, and although the place isn't small, finding a seat is hard to come by -and the battle begins! They should also have more salad dressings to choose from... hope you like -vinaigrette- because that's what your gonna' get. (It is a better visit in the warmer weather than in the cooler because both locations have outdoor seating and that helps relieve some of the seating stress).
Pros: Great Food * Clean * Very Friendly
Cons: Seating Demands * Salad Dressing * Coke is in a Plastic Bottle |

• After re-reading this post I see how we should have made it clear that "1 type" of beer is the "draft style" they have lots of others by the bottle! We would also like to add how I much we appreciate the free Veggie Burgers they give out for earth day... Yes, you read right, FREE! (Sorry, If you missed it this year.). response by BillyAdrienne+4

Review: This is the all around perfect restaurant: it's the best place in Columbus to meet with anyone, Northstar really caters to "diet diversity". Every person I have brought here [particularly out-of-towners] are blown away by the quality of the food. The service is outstanding: always friendly - not just courteous, but friendly...assuming this is a reflection on the owners taking care of it's employees!
An excellent dining experience. Try it, you & your guests, will love it.
Pros: fresh ingredients * menu variety and consistency * friendly staff
Cons: Have to stand and wait for beverage. * Does not have vegan brunch option * |
