Review: We visited Vegetalia twice during our stay in Barcelona and were happy with the service and friendly staff. We tried the spring rolls, paella, banana cake and mushroom entree all of which were great except the mushroom dish was served with woody old asparagus. We also ate a burger, but felt that something was lacking - flavour, sauce, bun ?? Obviously we also tried their mojitos: yummy, refreshing and moorish. Nice place to visit even just to see their crystal wall and lamps.
Pros: mojitos * friendly staff * wholesome food

Review: Its pretty interesting going to a place where they sell their patties all nice and prepackaged and you can get them in any of the health food stores in town. Its a simple place, but they oil up a pan and sear the burger, and the burger just comes out on a plate with no bun so its a little anti climatic!
Pros: * *
Cons: no bun * * |

Review: This was one of two veggie restarants I visited on a 3 day break to Barcelona and was the best of the 2 (see my other Barecelona review...) This small restaurant is quite easy to find on Playa de George Orwell in the Barrio Gottic area of the city. Menu has a reasonable range- we opted for the vegetarian starter platter for 2 and found this substantial as an evening meal (I think this cost about 12 euros) if you have a smaller appetite. During the daytime you can takeaway a slice of pizza or a veggieburger with salad which were quite reasonably priced for Barcelona (no more than 5 Euros each I think)
Would visit this restaurant again.
Pros: location * price * food
Cons: none * * |

Review: I was in Barcelona for a trade show and had bearly eaten all week -- not a great city for vegetarians -- so this place is a score. Great vibe. Good food.
Three courses with plenty of wine for two people came in under 50 Euro. Highly recommended.

Review: The restaurant is relatively easy to find, the atmosphere lovely, and the staff very friendly. It's not a huge place, but it's cosy and inviting - perhaps something to do with the massive crystal quartz wall!
The food was excellent, although for my ravenous partner, his portion was a bit small. Nevertheless, everything is fresh, tasty, and you get quality veggie food.
Try it.
Pros: Tasty * Variety * Atmosphere
Cons: Location * Portion size * |

Review: My wife & I went to Vegetalia for our first meal after a very long plane flight. As vegans, we like to be sure to get calcium via broccoli, collards, kale, bok choy, etc. I was very happy with the amount of broccoli in the sauteed veg's on brown rice. Alas, Catalunya often uses too much salt, so my wife was less happy, and I'll rate this a 4 rather than a 5. We learned that when in Catalunya, ask for no salt [and add a little soy after it's served]!
Pros: broccoli * brown rice * english menu
Cons: salty * * |

Review: My 4yo son and I had lunch at Vegetalia today. We shared the set menu (3 courses for EUR9.90) and I found that while the serves were not huge, they were really perfectly adequate. More importantly, the dishes were delicious, very fresh and tasty and I had no problems getting a lovely vegan dessert (a soy-based fruit flan), which is not always the case at places that are not purely vegan. Most impressive was the fact that the staff saw that my son had already finished his first course while I was awaiting my vegie burger, and gave him a slice of the flan gratis to occupy him while I enjoyed my main course! Though I might add that my son also ended up sharing my main and really enjoying it too. So for those travelling with kids, I think you'll find this place easy and welcoming.
The store has only a limited range of products, but would certainly save a starving vegan doing self-catering. I find the veg pate spreads an excellent choice for picnics, especially the ones with the replaceable lid.
Pros: very friendly staff * fresh tastes * child-friendly
Cons: limited to set menu at lunch * food store limited range * |

Review: On a great location at George Orwell place - this little resturant has a nice and friendly staff (who don't speak much English, but get along with the English menu). The atmosphere is good, the food deliciuos, healthy and cheap, and you can do take aways of the burgers. Very vegan friendly - with the list of the ingridiants on each dish.
Almost perfect.
Pros: Great food * good service * vegan friendly

Review: They have a great variety of veggie, vegan and meat substitute options. Me and a friend have eaten there twice and enjoyed everything we have had except the spinach tortellini with mushroom sauce. It sounds good but was quite bland (tasted like frozen). The rice, beans and veggie burgers are great, as are the juices and the Seitanwhich. Go there, you won´t be dissapointed.
Pros: Tasty * Unique * Affordable
Cons: Slow * * |

Review: Once again don't go here if you're the kind of person to be annoyed by lack of ingredients/time taken to prepare food. Everything seems to be made fresh here, so took a little while to be prepared. Really friendly staff who made conversation and interesting food/drink reccommendations. Starter of freshly made hummus and pitta was delicious, and main courses were a variety of meat substitutes and also some nice veg. only dishes. Nice little shop at the back of the cafe too.
Pros: Friendly service * Nice variety, tasty food * Fresh ingredients
Cons: Sometimes slow service * * |

Review: This became our favorite go-to restaurant during our stay in Barcelona. It is open all day so you never need to worry about time budgeting your sightseeing to correlate with your empty stomach. And the menu is full of super yummy comfort food which us Americans can start missing during our travels. Everything I had was amazingly flavorful. They somehow turned a simple dish of beans and rice into the most exotic, interesting flavor combination I've ever had. Magic! They have a rotating selection of vegan deserts, but I found the vegan chocolate pudding (a fixture on the menu) to be superior to any of the specialty cakes that I tasted. The restaurant is very English friendly and has menus printed in several languages. The staff was very helpful and nice and always remembered us upon our return. And the sangria.....yum! Definitely a must visit. (sidenote: when we asked the concierge at our hotel for directions, he told us not to go as it is a "terrible" part of town. he wouldn't even give us directions. this is rubbish. apparently the area used to be a red light district, but it has come a very long way since then. all of the usual travel rules apply, but i found it to be a completely hospitable neighborhood. and it's just a short walk off la rambla)
Pros: lots of vegan options * friendly staff * all day dining
Cons: none! * * |

Review: Attractive, clean restaurant with small shop near busy Placa Reail. We visited for dinner and had tasty vegan dishes, including tofu kebabs, brown rice (a huge thrill when traveling), and fresh veggies. Nice atmosphere. They had a helpful recipe for organic carrot cake written up on a chalkboard. Vegan deserts, including chocolate cookies that tasted sinfully fudgy. Organic beer and wine. Solicitous staff, some with limited English. Menus in English, Spanish, and Catalan. Cheesy dishes are noted as such.
Pros: nice atmosphere * brown rice * vegan deserts
Cons: sensible portions * * |

Review: OK, maybe we ordered the wrong things from the menu- we had a veggieburger and grilled tofu. Both had very little flavor, the portions were small.
They seem to have a good lunch menu - 8 euros for a 3 course meal.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
To be fair we are very picky and the people next to us enjoyed their meal a lot. There are better places to go though.
Pros: good location * friendly staff *
Cons: bland food * small portions * |
