Organic Vegetarian Restaurant
Posted on 12 / 05 / 2008Visitors in Eilat split into two. The first group want to go diving, snorkeling, hiking and enjoy the various tourist attractions in the city, maybe visit Sinai, Egypt (for more diving) or Petra in Jordan. The others come to the hotels, lie on the beach, do a little shopping and rest. They all have to eat and Soomsoom in Eilat is a great little Health Food store and organic/vegetarian restaurant. The menu is written on a board, freshly made every day, by a group of ladies who live on a kibbutz, about 30km from Eilat. It's a 5 minute walk from the central bus station and most taxi drivers know where it is. It's a good value for your money, lunch will set you back 10-15 euro, and you can pick up some healthy snacks in the store for the rest of your vacation. It's in the middle of town, a break from the tourist traps around the city. If you've had enough of fancy restaurants and hotels, Soomsoom is a place you leave feeling great. The only other options in town; sushi, and of course felafel.
Pros: fresh organic food, friendly staff, quiet atmosphereCons: store a bit cluttered, menu written in Hebrew, not open after 6 p.m.
