Review: Sometimes combining delicious food with endless supply can be a bad thing... admittedly I did over-indulge a little. But who can blame me - it's all so yummy!
The drinks menu could use a little expanding, and it is maybe just a little pricy for what it is. Still, it's quite classy compared to the canteen style of other Govindas restaurants that I've been to (Brisbane and Christchurch).
I have no idea how you'd watch a movie after a heavy meal though, all I wanted to do was sleep!
Pros: All you can eat and delicious * Nice atmosphere * Movie room for those interested
Cons: Limited beverage menu * * |

Review: I really like the lentil soup, which is lucky because it's one of the only vegan options there. The non-vegan food looks average. However it is worth it just to go to the very comfy cinema (remember that you have to take your shoes off so make sure you don't have holy socks or smelly feet). I wish they would get rid of the religious material, but I guess that's part of what they're about.

Cons: * * |

• Hi InjessT, I liked your review. I'm not sure I'd go there if I could only eat lentil soup though! Maybe if they had a really good movie on!. response by Jeffrey

Review: I went here with my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago and encountered the same problems with the lack of vegan friendly food. My girlfriend, who is vegetarian, had already piled her plate high before I got word that there were only two vegan options, lentil soup and a basic salad. What annoyed me the most that several dishes were unnecessarily cooked in ghee, such as the potato wedges and the pakoras. Over $20 for soup and salad is pretty harsh, as is braving the Kings Cross locale in which Govinda's is situated.
Pros: * *
Cons: High price * Not vegan friendly * Yuppies |

Review: We went here a couple of times, the first time was for my birthday and they told us there was lots of things which were vegan but not three dishes. Went there again and was told nothing was vegan as everything has ghee (clarified butter) and being vegan and lactose intollerant that was all right out. We suffered through it with bread rolls and were very unhappy and never went back! The staff were unhelpful and didn't know what was what. They kept coming back with different stories.
Pros: vegetarian food * *
Cons: staff unfriendly * movie cramped * |
