Review: When I say a place is old-fashioned, I usually mean it as an insult, but Susie's ticks all the right boxes. The food is old school veggie staples, but packed with flavour and freshly prepared. They are run on really ethical grounds, and employ some staff with learning difficulties. It is a bit shabby, which you'll either think is cosy or annoying, depends on you. My only criticism is that the egg-containing puddings tend to be more exciting and imaginative than the vegan ones. It depends whether you go in on a good or bad day.
Pros: Ethical * Big portions * Sells great beer
Cons: Toilets could be cleaner * Vegan cakes not consistant enuff * Rammed on Sat afternoons |

Review: Weird layout. You stand in a queue having no idea what the menu offerings are, or what they've run out of, until you get right up to the place where you have to give your order, at which point the people behind you are getting impatient with you to make up your mind already. The main meals aren't bad - I had sweet and sour tofu and veg, or something like that - but the fruit salad with cashew cream I had for pudding was truly vile.
Pros: cheap * some good food *
Cons: hard to figure out what's available * awful pudding * |

Review: I had Sunday lunch in this place at the weekend. I asked at the counter what was vegan veggie and was given a choice of sweet and sour tofu, greek mushrooms or samber. I asked if I could have a portion made up of a little bit of all 3. My wish was granted with which I also had some potato salad. Very enjoyable. Personally I liked the tofu dish the best of the 3. A hearty portion all for the decent value price of 7 quid.
The atmo was pleasant
Pros: Vegan veggie friendly * Good value * Hearty portions
Cons: * * |
