Review: When we arrived at the restaraunt, my beautiful date and I were both taken back by the uncomfortable feel and rather dirty interior of Udupi Palace. The menu was nicely laid out and prices were affordable. However, it was hard to tell from the menu which items might be vegan. The Poori bread was delicious and all of our food was good. The service was poor and the walls and bathrooms were filthy and not well supplied.
Pros: Good food * Good prices *
Cons: Dirty * poor service * |

Review: My husband and I go here pretty regularly. The prices are good, (curries between $8-$9, Dosas and uttapam between $5-$8). I often get a curry and it's usually too spicy for me, even though I ask for mild spices. My husband usually gets the Thali dinner ($9 or so), which I think is just leftovers from their lunch buffet, but he loves the variety.
I have felt on occasion that the food isn't as fresh as it could be and the vegetables are quite soft. However, the seasonings are good, and there adequate vegan options. Just make sure you ask, because they aren't listed as such.
Pros: Inexpensive * Good variety * Nice flavors
Cons: Too spicy * could be more vegan options * Service is a little distracted |

Review: We have been to the lunch buffet several times and would definitely recommend it. There were many options, including fresh salads, mouth-tingling sour-spicy dal soups, chutneys, rice, and a variety of entrees. We have brought several friends and they have all enjoyed it.
The food is South Indian cuisine, not the Punjabi cuisine that is usually offered in Indian restaurants in the US. The flavors are different from Punjabi cuisine, and tamarind and lemon make frequent appearances, particularly in the rasam and sambar soups. Several reviewers complained of sour flavors, but everything I tasted had the tangy flavors that are appropriate to the cuisine.
The buffet is a great way to try many different tastes if you're not familiar with South Indian cuisine. We have found it to be fresh, varied, and delicious.
Pros: wide variety * good value *
Cons: gets crowded at lunch * * |

Review: Good food..luckily all veg. but I wasnt as impressed as I thought I'd be.. people had talked to me about it alot.
I also felt all three times i have eaten there, I had to ait a while for serivce...felt even ignored! so I have sort-of stopped eating here. There are some unique things about the south indian food compared to the more traditional indian food i as used to eating.
And some of it was very tasty!
