Review: I don't have much to add to the previous reviews, but I enjoyed my meal here very much. I found that the regular falafel sandwich (at 3.90) was a good-sized filling meal by itself, so you might not have to get one of the meal deals unless you're really hungry (or really want some chips).
Compared to the "Amsterdam Falafel" shop in Washington DC, the salads and sauces weren't terribly exciting, but they weren't at all bad. I think that arranging the salads and falafels in the pitta is a bit of an art that I haven't quite mastered yet, so the first half of my sandwich was mostly salad and the second half was mostly falafel. For that reason I was glad that the falafels were a bit on the moist side, not dry and crumbly like you sometimes see.
Pros: cheap and filling * convenient location * pretty good food
Cons: * * |

Review: Small space open late, for grabbing something to eat on the fly.
White lit, short, narrow bar and a couple of wooden tables if you need to eat in.
You can get falafel with the individual toppings/ salad you want or choose a meal deal which is basically falafel and salad from the salad bar or falafel with aubergine and hommus in pitta with chips and salad, one pound extra to add beverage.
The pitta is round pocket pitta and it is propped in a cardboard stand which is more conducive to eating and walking. Still to find a kebab shop in London that sells falafel rolls/ wraps the falafel in lavash/ mountain bread as done in the Gulf states, Germany, Australia, anywhere else? If this were to start, kebab sales would surely increase greatly as it increases ease of eating them whether stationery or walking/ portability - massive attraction for kebabs.
Falafel is the soft instead of crispy type. The tastiest falafel I've had was in Gulf/ Germany.
Hommus has a lot of tahini in it. Tastes almost like pure tahini, very peanutty.
Salad is self serve from a bar which includes olives, baby aubergines, coleslaw and couscous amongst other items. There are a range of sauces which you can add including coriander, green and red chilli.
Falafel in pitta was a decent, square meal.
Service is brisk and food comes fast.
Value is good for a filling bite/ meal in this area, at five pounds 90 pence for the number one meal deal - falafel in pitta, described above.
Pros: Quick& cheap * good range of sauces * pittabetterformobileeattoothLndnkebabs
Cons: hommus peanutty tasting * tastier, crispy falafel existent * |

Review: Maoz falafel is a chain across Europe which I've also eaten at a number of times in Amsterdam. I've never had a bad falafel, and for some reason they've tasted particularly good in Amsterdam ;)
You order a falafel with bread, either white or wholemeal, they put it in a pita pocket with some lettuce, and then you can put as much of the great salad ingredients they have you can pile on top. They also have a range of sauces, my tip is put some sauces on the falafel before the other ingredients.
The salads are always fresh, the falafel is cooked there in front of you (the number one sign of a decent falafel shop in my experience) and it's usually pretty quick as well.
Great place to take non veggies after a couple of pints in Soho, after all who doesn't like great falafel?
Pros: Fresh * Open Late * Cheap
Cons: Messier to eat than Just Falafs * * |

Review: The number 2 was amazing. There was so much food I couldn't finsih the chips that came with the meal. It comes with a drink and fries/chips. I will definitely go back again before I go home.
Maoz is located in the Soho area of London similair to Soho/Villiage in NYC. It gets very busy here, therefore; the staff are quick and ready to serve.
Pros: good value * excellent food * good salad bar
Cons: * * |

Review: Great location, great prices, and best of all: great falafel. It can get crowded at lunch and in the evening but the queue moves fast. Or you can go to the other Maoz around the corner on Brewer St. Bring your omni friends here and they'll love falafel, too. Or if they're scared, Maoz serves up some of the best chips/fries in town.
Pros: excellent falafel * price * open late
Cons: not enough seating space * * |
