Hearty Organic Raw Bountiful!

5 Posted on 05 / 04 / 2013

Welcomed by lively and friendly greetings with simple but nice and warm atmosphere.
Every dish was prepared freshly from the kitchen. The chef, Claire, who is also the owner of the café concerned for every question and specialty that I asked. The Menu is creative, ingredients are brought to mix and match together very well to become delicious dishes. I did feel that every dish was fulfilled with love and care, created delicately by heart.

For over 15 years experience in being vegetarian, vegan, and for 4 years being a raw food eater, I can say that ORB Café is the best raw food and vegan restaurant I have ever tasted in the world, comparing to many in other towns and countries. I know that I will always miss this place, if I visit Edinburgh again in the future, I will absolutely go to ORB.

Although you are not vegan/vegetarian or raw food lover, you should give it a try.
It's good for your health, it's good for your life. Then you will know how's an angel's food taste like! :)

Pros: Creative & Delicate, Hearty & Healthy, Delicious

Delicious raw vegan dishes in an informal setting

5 Posted on 02 / 23 / 2013

Delicious, organic, raw vegan dishes made by lovely people who really care about their customers. To the extent that they prepared a 7 day raw food plan for me and supplied all my lunches and dinners so that I didn't have to think about what to eat! That made things SO easy - by day 5 I was zinging - SO much energy. The food is amazing - puddings are a must (particularly the pumpkin pie) and savoury dishes mouth-wateringly tasty (favourite so far is the tomato and red pepper quiche).

Pros: Delicious food, Super friendly
Cons: Cash only (at the moment)

Great Raw Vegan Cafe in Edinburgh

5 Posted on 02 / 07 / 2013

Gorgeous food, very tasty - a delight for your tastebuds. Great service and attention to all needs and tastes. Being nut intolerant, I wasn't sure how much I'd be able to try, as raw food is very reliant on nuts, but I needn't have worried as Claire and Lizzie have made sure I will never miss out by having at least one nut free dish on every day :)

It's fantastic for Edinburgh to have a totally vegan place at last. I'll be making many more trips there.

A great new addition to Edinburgh dining

5 Posted on 01 / 15 / 2013

We loved the friendliness and enthusiasm of the 2 women that run this newly opened cafe. It's nicely-lit inside and when busy should be a great place to relax and dine in a laid back atmosphere.
It's been set-up on a budget but they've made the most of the surroundings and most importantly of all - the food hits the mark.
The taster menu of the 3 dishes on offer was lovely and well worth a tenner for the beautifully presented food and flavours, as were the fruit juices (thick like a smoothie) and the crumble dessert with booja-booja ginger and coconut vegan ice-cream. They plan to make their own vegan ice-cream in the future.
It's in a central location above Chop Chop (through a door to the side), near to Haymarket Station. It offers breakfast through to dinner (dinner Fri/Sat) at present but check the hours on their web-site in case this changes, and runs regular evenings such as talks or films. I'd really like to try their Burns' Night but sadly won't be able to investigate what raw foodies would have to rival veggie haggis, neeps and tatties!
Although we are not raw diet followers, it's really nice to see something like this arrive in Edinburgh and deserves to be a success for daring to be different in this city! We'll certainly pay more visits in future.

Pros: excellent food, friendly staff, good value
