small, but very nice & easy to reach
Posted on 05 / 07 / 2013Finally! Düsseldorf's got its very first vegan supermarket.
If you have been to vegan supermarkets in Berlin or the "Vegilicious" in Dortmund you may be disappointed at first. "Pfau" is a very small shop that cannot compete with the variety of brands other vegan stores offer. But the design of the store is very nice, like an old corner-shop, very lovely and the product range may be small, but nicely selected. They offer wines as well and give you a good guidance. All staff i met was very friendly. You can even by with your credit card (EC) now, if you purchased for 15 € or more. They really know what they are selling, including all my favorite products (Hulala Whipped Cream, Cleo Peanut Cups, Vegan "Meat" Replica from Vantastic Foods,...).
I heard they also support "Düsseldorf is(s)t vegan" – a campaign to spread the vegan idea with all its benefits and educate other "normal" restaurants to start serving vegan dishes.
Pros: easy to reach, very friendly, very ambitiousCons: yet small variety of products
