Cheap food with home-made feeling

This is a really welcoming place making nice, filling, cheap vegan food. Clean but not fancy.
Basically variations of veg stir-fry and brown rice plus free broth and pot of tea. We had a mushroom stir-fry and mixed veg one. Both had good flavour (not too salty or greasy) and a bit of spice. They didn't look like huge portions when they arrived but were actually filling and made a good lunch.
Lunch for two was 60 BHT and they tried to refuse a tip, only taking it when it was put in their charity pot. Excellent value and really nice feeling.

Pros: vegan, welcoming, cheap
Cons: lack of range

Lovely Vibe, Good Clean Food

This sparsely-furnished Buddhist eatery on Thanon Moon Muang, near the top of Soi 9, serves buffet-style dishes on rice for around 30-35 baht. The women running the place are lovely. The food and vibe are *SO* much better than the plethora of 'vegetarian-friendly' eateries that proliferate on the Moon Muang Sois (all of which, it seems, use fish sauce and/or shrimp paste, while telling you 'vegan' to your face). Good location, inexpensive, lovely service.

Pros: great atmosphere, central location, inexpensive

Only real Veg Food near Moon Mung Soi 9 NE corner

Very good pure simple Bud restraunt 1 block north of Moon Mung soi 9. Despite several listings on happy cow this is the only pure veg place in the area. The map shown on happy cow is incorrect. This is located on Sriphum road(the major road that borders the moat of the old city North gate) almost at the corner of moon mung intersection/corner.

Run by lovely young women. Very clean and sparse decore. They cook Thai food in small batches. No menu just chose how many items you want on rice. Free soup with meal. ` Very easy to find with a large red and yellow veg banner in front on the sidewalk.
