The Younger Brother of Bartertown

Same location and veg-friendly focus as Bartertown, but with late-night hours, punk rock on the stereo, and everything coming in a tortilla. Where else in the world are you going to find a late-night, cooperatively-owned, farm-to-table, affordable, vegan burrito joint? But Grand Rapids has one and the food downright kills.

I visited after a trek out to the beach, and filled up on a delicious 14" breakfast burrito that appeased my hunger, but didn't leave me feeling like shit. Plus they were playing Rancid. I look forward to going back.

Inhabiting the same space as Bartertown Cafe, Burritotown is the late night cousin. Serving a small, changing menu of tacos and burritos, Burritotown fills a niche in the Grand Rapids community that hasn't been satiated until now.

"Burritos" being a bit of a general term for "let's shove as much vegan goodness into a tortillas as possible," Burrittown isn't the most authentic of Mexican joints, but that isn't necessary. Seriously, who is going to complain about breakfast burritos, burritos stuffed with indian food, or whatever other crazy concoction the staff decides to whip up?

The best part is we now have somewhere to go for late night grub that is affordable, delicious and does everything with a completely clear social conscience. As much as can be locally sourced is, and the freshness shows through. The staff is awesome and very passionate about what they do and, again, that shows through as well. The staff is treated fairly, no animals are harmed in the making of your late night cravings, and you get healthy delicious food.

There ain't nothing wrong with that.

Pros: Cheap, local, burrito-tastic
