Pay by weight

I tried out this place a few times. It has a self-service system and the food is payed by weight, what is a problem if you have only a limited amount of money with you because you never know exactly how much it will be. It´s very big so it looses some of it´s atmosphere but is very clean. They have a very very huge salat buffet! The cafe offers some vegan cakes and stuff.
Pros: big offer, vegan sweets, special salatsThis is basically a cafeteria with both hot dishes and salad bar. Great selection on salad bar but the tomato soup was not edible
Pros: great selection, all dishes labelled whether vegan, gluten free etc, lots of seatingThere is only one problem with this restaurant - the price is per weight, and it's very easy to go overboard filling the plate if you aren't good at estimating weight.
Other than that...the food is of excellent quality, there is plenty of choice for vegans, the atmosphere is welcoming and it's right opposite the train station.... somewhere I'd definitely go back to.
Pros: vegan choice, welcoming, locationThere is something for everyone at this buffet! Too bad it's not all you can eat for one set price. I love the atmosphere and their food never disappoints. I go here every time I'm in town. It's great!
Pros: vegan-friendly, healthy, cleanThis is a huge place, the largest veggie buffet I've ever seen and there are dozens and dozens of seats on 2 levels. The food is excellent, massive choice, plenty of vegan options and is freshly prepared. Hot and cold meals, salads, side dishes, sauces, dips and snacks. Price is based on weight so please be very careful as the final bill could be hefty if you're greedy like I was! Definitely recommend this place if in Bonn. Overlooking the main plaza of the main train station.
Pros: choice, location, seatingI lived in Bonn for about 5 months and I really regret not finding this place sooner! I found it my last 2 weeks there. If I had found it sooner I would have eaten here every day. They have a great buffet, a salad bar, a wonderful vegetarian and vegan hot food bar. All the food is healthy. They had great noodle dishes. They do charge by the pound so just make sure you only take what you know you are going to eat or come back for seconds if you are still hungry. This is the only vegetarian restaurant in Bonn. Try it- you are going to love it. By the way- it can get a bit confusing with the layout- they have like a store entrance of just a simple coffee shop you have to walk up the stairs for the restaurant or enter the main way.
Well, actually, while there are a number of health-food stores now, this is still the only vegetarian restaurant in Bonn, so you're not left with too many choices. In recent years they've started clearly labeling all vegan options (with a green sticker), so it's easy to find those. The menu changes on a day-to-day basis. It's all self-serve, cafeteria-style; they have a cold salad bar and a hot food section. Plus desserts (not much vegan stuff here) and drinks, including organic beer and wine. There's also a separate cafe area connected to the main restaurant (pretty much non-vegan, though I did spot a vegan cake on display once).
The place itself is multi-level, located in a mall-like space called "Cassius Graben", pretty much right in the center of town, part of the extensive pedestrian zone; follow signage to find the restaurant.
I actually don't think it's fast-foodlike at all; most items are quite wholesome. Some of the vegan options are a little on the bland side (the vegan burger patty, e.g., one of three burger options offered most days), but I've had tasty stir-fries; there are always a few very good vegan salads (coleslaw, arugula/potato salad), so you usually do end up with a full plate (which can actually get rather pricey, so watch out).
I would definitely recommend eating here if visiting Bonn!
Pros: only veg restaurant in Bonn, fresh & wholesome, decent vegan optionsI've been a full vegetarian for 21 years this year. I am a US citizen residing in Germany and have traveled most of the world in the past 15 years. Whenever I can, on those business travels, I search for and find veggie restaurants. I have been going to the Cassius Garden regularly for more than 15 years now and the verdict is quite simple: there is no vegetarian self serve restaurant anywhere in the world that compares; it is unique and unparalleled. The food is of supreme quality, the choice is more than vast and their salad bar is a living legend worldwide. Cassius Garden is by far the best !!
