Review: We've visited this place a couple times over several years after hearing from omnivores how great it is to see a fancy and upscale vegetarian restaurant. Each time, we've left disappointed.
It is a nice environment, and we've always had pleasant experiences with the staff, but it's a stretch to call it a vegetarian restaurant (they seem to be including fewer items each time we go..?). Their menu specifies which items are vegan, but when only one or two items on the menu fall into that category (other than the sides, which they proudly label as vegan), one wonders about the motivation.
Of course, you can get a vegan meal there (though I'll wager you and your spouse will order the same item due to the limited menu), but unfortunately the meal - while fancy and well-prepared - is utterly uninteresting. Compared to other nearby restaurants where vegans could order a different item every day for a week and never be dissatisfied, Sunflower is absolutely flat; doubly so due to the price.
Avoid it. There are numerous excellent alternatives in and around Boulder.
Pros: Pleasant ambiance * Unintrusive staff *
Cons: Only barely vegan-friendly * Forgetable tastes * Overpriced |

Review: The food was too expensive to enjoy.
We came here on a pinch not being from Boulder and needing to find a vegan option for my daughter to eat. She was extremely hungry and we didn't feel like looking for another place within walking distance.
We ordered the food which she felt was decent but the price was so high that it seemed not worth it.
Pros: not all veg * *
Cons: expensive * not all veg-vegan issue * |

Review: Dont waste your time or money at this place. The food was laughable, the portions were third world, and the prices were exorbitant.
I have eaten here several times over the years, hopefull that they would get it together, doesnt look like that will ever happen. The old owner was bad, but the new owner seems to have dug the hole even deeper. Go to Leaf or VG Burgers.
Pros: filtered water * pretty pictures *
Cons: food * service * prices |

Review: I really hoped that the negative reviews I saw on this site were wrong, or that the restaurant had turned itself around. While there were many veg options, there were also plenty of non-veg options, so this would not be the place to go if you are quite sensitive. It was clear that the restaurant was going for an upscale vibe and in terms of ambiance, I think they achieved it. But, their food was not on par with what they intended. Perhaps the non-veg options are better? My husband and I decided that among the restaurants that we visited the few days that we were in Boulder, this was on the bottom of the list. Frasca, Leaf and even V.G. Burgers put this place to shame.
Pros: pretty place * *
Cons: * * |

Review: Years ago when I was in Boulder this place was great. It was a safety net, in fact. But that was then. It seems they aren't a veg rest; rather they are a rest that caters to the yuppie dietary trends. Buffalo and venison were prominent. There in fact was only one or two things I could eat (vegan) and I did so as a last resort. I didn't feel good about it, especially after the weak Phad Thai I had emptied my wallet. Overpriced garbage. Even if I'm hard up the next time I'm in Boulder, I will not use this place as a last resort. The staff thought they were better than serving as also.
Avoid it...

Cons: no veg food * staff * price |

Review: I make my parents take me to Boulder every time I visit them in Denver specifically to come to Sunflower. It is somewhat expensive, but not out of line with the quality of the food, ambience, service, etc. I've always found plenty of vegan options to choose from. My stepfather says the Eggs Benedict is the best he's ever had anywhere. And the vegan chocolate raspberry cake is out of this world.
Pros: Nice staff * Excellent food * Best Vegan Cake ever!
Cons: * * |
