Çiğkoftem - spicy vegan snacks
Posted on 08 / 15 / 2012This branch of the popular Turkish fast-food chain "Çiğköftem" is located at The Hague's colorful multicultural shopping street Paul Krugerlaan in the Transwaal quarter, easy to reach by public transport.
The main dish is çiğkaftem, a vegan mixture of (cracked) bulgur, tomato paste, oil, salt, red pepper and 18 spices, served cold. The version I had was quite spicy, but very good. It was served with some vegetables and a hot sauce. Other variations (with Turkish lavas bread) were available, too.
As other "Çiğköftem" branches in The Netherlands, they sell also some meat - based snacks.
The staff was friendly and the place very clean.
A good place to go for a quick (and cheap!) vegetarian/vegan snack, although I would prefer some more variation, for example a selection of fresh salads.
Pros: good value , nice snack, multicultural environmentCons: serve also meat, not too much variation
