This is beyond a doubt the best vegan place to eat out in Brighton!
Every Friday you have a chance to try a unique menu carefully crafted for amazingness. I've eaten here on a number of occasions and am always completely satisfied.
I don't think there are many places where the chef makes such an effort to make every plate excellent, both in taste and composition.
If you have a chance to go I urge you to do so, you will not be disappointed.
Really good, exciting food at a good price served in a nice environment. Different themed menu each week, which they put on their website / facebook in advance.
The theme this week was North African and we had a Mezze Plate starter (for 2 to share)- griddled bread with spiced carrot salad, grilled red peppers, Moroccan salsa, leafy salad with dates, etc
Potato Tajine with Olives & Harissa, couscous, and a spinach and tofu parcel (a bit like a samosa)
Fig & Almond Konafa Tart with a syrupy orange sauce
The food was delicious, great attention to details and wonderful flavour. Service is very friendly. Nice atmosphere, just a few tables downstairs or upstairs. All vegan so no worries. Generous portions.
3 courses for £20 each, bring your own beer / wine. Water, tea, coffee provided. Will definitely go back!
Excellent food . No choice as it is a set menu. It varies each Friday and is frequently based on a country. Mainly organic produce is used and it is a family atmosphere as most people who go are regulars (which speaks for itself). Highly recommended.
Pros: Excellent Food, Friendly staff, Good ValueThe Gourmet Girls vegan pop-up is wonderful. The setting is a cute deli, and they do a very creative, delicious set menu. There's a different theme each week - we went on the Indonesian night and it was superb. We had laksa, gado-gado, and sweet potato balls for dessert. Everything was perfectly prepared and filled with scrumptious authentic flavours. The hosts are friendly and genuine. Highly recommended! But make sure you call and book in advance.
Pros: Creative, Delicious, IntimatePaula and Sammy great amazing, tasty vegan food. It's certainly the best vegan food I'd ever had, with amazing care and attention to detail. The pop up is small so you have to book in advance, but it's a great atmosphere and a real foodie treat. They have a stall selling take away food on Saturday's at Gardener Street market too.

The venue is a fabulous deli with romantic tables for two upstairs or larger parties downstairs. There is also a likely patio out the back for dining alfresco on hot nights. We first went to the vegan fish and chips night which was a posh take on the pouplar version with tofu wrapped in seaweed and then fried in beer batter and it was sooo good we have been back a few times. It's MUCH better food than Terre a Terre or Food for Friends and the prices are much more reasonable than those resturants. Puddings are to die for so you must save room for them and if you don't have room then make room! It's a BYO so no expensive mark up on booze and you can buy soft drinks or they will happily give you water. Paula and Sammy are perfect hosts and make the dinning experience really warm and welcoming. To be honest we don't bother to go to Terre of Food for Friends now because the food is better at Gourmet Girls, the portions are bigger and the food is very reasonably priced for what you get. The setting is really intimate and being a secret resturant it is more fun. The menu changes every week too. You need to book on advance and there is only one choice normally for each course but you get to see on their website what the food is each week so you can choose when to go. It is cash only. There are nice pubs just round the corner so a drink beforehand is only a short stroll away. This is one of Brighton's best kept secrets and once you go you will become regulars.
Pros: Posh vegan nosh, Very reasonably priced, Great hosts, great venuePaula and Sammi (Titbits Catering) are regulars around town with a stall on Saturdays at Upper Gardner Street market and are a welcome presence at various outdoor events. Their Friday night takeover of Fanny's cafe with a differently-themed menu each week really gives them a chance to show off their extensive repertoire. The cosy venue in the Hanover area of Brighton is close to the town centre and 15 minutes from the train station. Our second visit was a Flavours of India night and the delicious Bhel Puri starter was the freshest tasting I've ever had. The main course of Biriyani with Mushroom Sabji, Malai Kofta, Kachumbar served with Mini Poppadoms and Chutney was plentiful and had just the right amount of heat. The portions were so large we had no room for dessert and being able to bring your own drinks make this an easily affordable evening of gourmet 100% vegan food prepared and served by the charming and attentive hosts. These evenings are often over-subscribed so ensure you book in advance.

I have only been once to the Gourmet Girls back in February and I am still thinking about it now, more specifically, the ravioli with sage butter sauce! Can't wait to go back again, just saving up the pennies. If you fancy a unique dining experience in an intimate and friendly venue, you have to go. I know vegans are spoilt for choice in Brighton but it really is up there with Terre a Terre and Aloka. YUM!
