(It is frustrating to submit corrections to Happy Cow and have them ignored. This review includes current and correct information.)
Natural Food Plaza is two businesses in one location: a natural foods store on the street level, offering whole-grain breads, cookies, grains, organic fruits and veggies. Open 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Sunday-Friday.
The restaurant (formerly El Rincon in a different location) is on the second floor. Open for lunch, the main meal of the day, 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Served buffet style; the servers fill your plate. Offers choice of soup, entree, salad, a tiny dessert, and juice/soy milk; COP$7000 (US$4). Outside those hours, between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. you can order off the menu. Open Sunday-Friday.
This is possibly the best vegan restaurant I have ever eaten at. The atmosphere is elegant, with while tablecloths and black-suited waiters. The food is of nearly gourmet quality, served in ample portions. Example: whole-wheat crepes served with your choice of 3 exquisite fillings (I tried them all!).
The business is run by a Seventh-Day Adventist community which grows the food organically on their farm. It doesnt get any better than this.
Pros: superb food, reasonable prices, organic
