Beats "Basic Four Vegetarian"

Tried a vegetarian Philly cheesesteak. It was good. The man made half of the hoagie with soy yellow cheese and the other with soy white. I don't know if there was actually a difference in the taste between the two or if it was because the man making the sandwich was lazy and didn't heat it right. The yellow was very creamy, I didn't like it. I guess he also was too lazy to actually fry the onions. So the 'heated' onions weren't good. Overall this sandwich is better than "Basic Four Vegetarian" (Reading Terminal Market). The imatation meat was cooked more and the vegganaise, lettuce, tomato, and soy white cheese on a hoagie roll reminded me of a past love. Would certainly go here again when in Philadelphia.

Cons: Won't bother to imitate real sandwich, Could be better

Great Find in Center City

I stay nearby when in town and I found this a welcome surpise for vegan and vegetarian deli food. They carry prepackaged vegan items at a reasonable cost and can make sandwiches, etc., to order. The people behind the counter are friendly and I love supporting a place that takes our dietary needs into consideration. Love the veggie "chicken" salad wrap -- usually served with a few tortilla ships and pickle spear. Good "go to" place if you're in a rush.

We happened upon this place while looking for a bite to eat before a show. What looked like you basic small grocery/deli turned out to be a G_Dsend for vegans. Along w/ typical philly deli fare, they had a full menu of Veg - lacto ovo and veganized - versions of everything from a "cheesteak" to a vegan club. The club was slices of firm Tofu and Soy bacon along w/ lettuce and tomatoe w/ veganaise. I chose to have it on a Hoagie roll rather than a sandwhich, but everthing was fresh and well prepared. The service was fast and friendly and they answered all our questions about the veagn versions of well known sandwhiches. It is well worth looking for this place for a quick vegan sandwich before a show in the heart of Philly's downtown right off the Avenue of the Arts of S. Broad St.

Cons: Small amount of seating near open door
