Loveless Hut

2 Posted on 08 / 21 / 2012

I was excited to try another Loving Hut, so I showed up at 11 and their hours have now changed to 1130. I waited as patiently as a hungry person could and entered a few minutes after it opened. I was seated and then ignored for 5 minutes, and then a lady came in to order takeout, saying she had a 30 minute window to order for 5 people. At that point I was completely ignored and they discussed the list of menu items and which ones were not available and how much other items would feed how many people etc. The customer had a question that the girl couldn't answered so she disappeared into the back and after about 3 minutes I got up and left. After reading other reviews that menu items were not available I was disappointed that this was true and don't think I will be back.

big disappointment

We can not believe how bad this place is when we were so looking forward to a good vegan meal. The menu is limited and the prices are outrageous. We did not realize how high the prices were till my husband finished his ice tea and was told that he would be charged full price again to have another ice tea. Always ice tea is unlimited refills but not here. $5.00 a glass and not even a big glass. My husband had the taco plate which he said was good but the amount was so small that he was looking for another meal two hours later. I had the eggplant dish which was extremely salty and when the server asked about the meal I told her it was very salty and she ignored me and walked away. The plate on which my rice was served had several chips along the edges. We saw people walk up look at the menu in the window and walk away. We think it is the prices. Actually, my dish besides being salty was very greasy and had only 5 very small pieces of tofu. We all know that tofu is not expensive but the meal was. We have been to three or four other Loving Huts and the food was fine, but this one you could not pay us to go back. The food left a bad taste in our mouths and we were totally unsatisfied.

Pros: none
Cons: food, prices, server attitude

I really wish I could support this place....

Let me start out by saying that I was incredibly excited to see they were putting a Loving Hut in Claremont. Unfortunately, I've tried this restaurant about five or six times and have always been disappointed. It's the worst restaurant, vegan or non vegan, that I've ever been to. The management is incredibly, incredibly, horrible. I want to support it because it's a vegan restaurant, but at the same time, I think the restaurant is so poorly managed that it gives veganism a bad name. I've gone 6 or 7 times to try and eat, but still haven't succeeded in being able to order what I want. They've never had the food that I've asked for, and the waitress never knows what food they have so I'll order and pay and then find out that they don't have what I ordered. They aren't dependable with their hours and I've gone two or three times when they were supposed to be open, to find that they were closed. They haven't had lids for to go cups since their restaurant opened, and I often see their cook out in the restaurant preparing food and sitting and watching t.v. at a table that was made for restaurant guests. I've never seen a restaurant where the cook prepares food in the front of the house in my life! The sad thing is that there are a lot of people in Claremont who would go here if it were not such a mess. It's too bad. I really don't expect it to be around for much longer.

Cons: never have food, irregular hours, unorganized

Unbeatable Vegan Tiramisu!

5 Posted on 05 / 20 / 2012

This is one of my favorite vegan eateries. After having the steak rolls I was so blown away by the taste that I proceeded to order as many things on the menu that my stomach could hold. The location is great, the decor is modern and suits it well, the menu isn't huge but everything on it seems spectacular and the prices are reasonable. The Tiramisu Cake dessert alone would have been enough for me give this place a high rating but it's just simply that I don't really have anything negative to say about this place so it's a must visit restaurant to anyone who lives close enough or is traveling to that area.

Pros: Vegan Tiramisu!, Vegan Tiramisu!, Vegan Tiramisu!

Great Vegan Food!

5 Posted on 05 / 04 / 2012

We got take out from this restaurant as we didn't have the time to eat in, and even though the food was reheated in our microwave at home it was awesome! I can only imagine how much better it is in the restaurant!

There was about a half hour wait but we ordered 11 dishes to go and it takes time to prepare all that food. Their menu is totally different from the Upland location, so you are not repeating any dishes when you eat here. The dishes that we have had so far were great; Taco Diego, Creamy Penne Pasta with Mushrooms, Garden Steak Sandwich and Crispy Chicken wings. Still have to try the Vegetable Lasagna and the Avocado Seitan Club but I'm sure they are as good!

Hard to find, unfortunately the city does not allow huge signs, this restaurant is tucked into the interior of a small shopping center which includes a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf which is easy to spot and is on the street.

Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Great for Vegan Food

5 Posted on 09 / 08 / 2011

Thank goodness for the Loving Hut, now we have a place to go for all vegan food when in this area!

This location is similar to the other Loving Huts in the southern California. Menu is primarily Vietnamese and Chinese with some Western choices.

I like the stir fry noodles and the soups.

Please go support them!

Took my mother here for a great experience at a highly reputable Vegan Restaurant Line. However, we went to order and the waitress indicated that some items may take an hour to get. Does anyone else seem this is crazy? Who in the world would wait an hour to get a meal? Clearly they don't have too many menu choices and not enough staff.
We ended up ordering from the side of the menu that would be quicker, however, we still were limited with choices. They did not have all the items available. Dessert choices were limited and did not look appetizing at all.

I want to see a Vegan and Gluten Free choice in Claremont! Sugar Beets Bakery would be a wonderful addition!

Pros: Friendly Waitress
Cons: Limited Menu, Long Wait
