Review: i guess i was expecting more than i received. this place was well reviewed through friends, and i have a feeling their meat dishes are excellent. my husband and i got a lentil soup, a 1/2 plate of saffron rice, a hummus plate, two fallafels, a rosewater lemonade and a baklava. With tip, it came to $18.80 and we were both full. Awesome. Unfortunately nothing tasted as it should. The lentil soup was bland and watery, the hummus was too thick and lacking flavor, the pita bread was very thin and easily breakable, the baklava was impossible to cut and eat. I did, however, really like the rice, lemonade and fallafel. It was overall not a regrettable experience, we just found ourselves asking where all the flavor and spice was. I guess it just wasn't what I'm used to. I will say this though, I will go back for the two fallafel sandwiches for $7.50, that is just too good to pass up.
Pros: cheap * vegan friendly * good portions
Cons: lacking flavor * small interior * not enough garlic :) |

Review: Abu's is an old-time east side favorite. Their veggie food is really great - the sampler is the best to start with so you figure out what your favorites are. Rosewater lemonade is a must.
Pros: excellent veg food * perfect portions *
Cons: very tiny space * you have to stare at the rack of lamb * sometimes slow service |
