Raw in Royal Oak

5 Posted on 03 / 29 / 2011

This is a nice little cafe in Royal Oak. The menu is small and heavy on the elixers: wheatgrass shots, fresh juices, smoothies, coconut kefir, etc. They also have a couple solid food choices available including nut based falafel and taco wraps- both available wrapped in lettuce for the raw foodies or on a sprouted tortilla if you prefer. They also do daily specials and have a warm soup of the day available. Their chocolates and desserts are some of the best I've had. The best one I had on my visit was a raw blueberry cheesecake that rivaled anything I've ever had at Cafe Gratitude back home in SF. If you haven't heard of Gratitude, rest assured, they make VERY good raw desserts!

Pros: GREAT DESSERTS, entrees, Friendly staff, Warm environment
Cons: ............., .............., ...........

Simply the Best

5 Posted on 12 / 20 / 2010

This area was ripe for this type of restaurant, and with the competition from other types of good restaurants in the area, it has to be great. Even if there were other Raw, Vegan restaurants in the area, Cacao Tree would probably still be the best. Wonderful, helpful waitstaff, friendly, cozy atmosphere, soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches area all great. And, if you're a chocolate lover, well.......go experience it for yourself.

If you're not familiar with the area, it may not be the easiest to find, but word of mouth about this place is spreading fast and those in the area have discovered it. Those outside the area will find it worth the search. The easiest way to find it is to park in the large public parking structure (free until 5pm). Walk out of the south end of the structure, and the Cacao Tree is right in front of you on the right.
