no frills cheap food

I go here a lot, its cheap, always reasonable quality, seems is connected to the college, so its helping the students. and being Indian I know it is safe vegetarian with no hidden fish sauces as in Malaysian vegetarian. Yes the staff may be hard to understand but I think its a cultural issue.

Pros: price, quantity, clean taste
Cons: limited menu, can be busy

Excellent and so cheap

My kids and I went there for lunch for the first time. We were very pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed our meal. There was naan bread, dhal and curry as well as rice and pickle and it was all you can eat. So cheap for $6.50 and tasty. I also bought a couple of the indian sweets, Gulabjumans and Ras malai. So yummy. Highly recommend to anyone.

Pros: cheap, all you can eat, tasty

Super cheap all-you-can eat Indian food

3 Posted on 10 / 15 / 2011

Location is perfect in the heart of the CBD. At $6.50 AUD per meal, all-you-can-eat, it's the cheapest meal you'll have in Australia, guaranteed. Indian food is about average quality. Some food tends to be watered-down and runny, perhaps to stretch the revenue a bit further. This is a perfect spot for backpackers and people trying to save money whilst in Melbourne.

Naan bread is tasty. Mango lassis aren't vegan but are definitely a tasty $2 upgrade. We eat here about 2-3 times per week.

The staff can be "clueless mumblers" sometimes. You may not understand what it is they've mumbled to you, and you may not have a high degree of confidence you will be served quickly in peak hours. You're served in an inelegant metal prisonware tray. Be careful the staff don't hand your metal tray to you hot-end first, causing you to burn your hand or drop your food! (They tend to do that, blindly handing you your tray in a way where you'll be surprised by the heat.)

Pros: Cheap, 100% vegetarian, Reasonably decent Indian food
Cons: Limited vegan options, Limited selection of 3-5 dishes max, Staff communication skills are poor

Best lime pickle

Great curries, I love curry and pickle so always go for a fix more for flavour than appearance its basic but great for price. It has a good positive energy and always has a great mix of people.

Pros: Flavour , Price, Positive place
Cons: Set menu, They run out of pickle quick

OK, first thing. It's all you can eat BUT it's a set menu. For the price, its very good. Ideally located, it's very casual with a positive atmosphere. If you're a backpacker, it's probably perfect for you.

Pros: Cheap, Healthy, Location
Cons: Signage
