Review: We had soup, salad and bread and it was delicious. The service was not. Our food was brought to us and no one ever came back to check on us.

Review: When I went I got a falafel sandwich and a potato and leek soup. The sandwich as pretty good, but the soup could have used a few improvements. I really liked their bread though. I would consider going again, but it's not a restaurant that I'm dying to go to every weekend.
Pros: Good bread * friendly service *
Cons: a little hard to find * soups need some work * |

Review: Benevolence is one of a handful of places in Columbus where vegans have options. Their food is delicious for the most part. You will find an occasional bland item [the rice and beans I had once didn't rock my world], but if they're ever out of anything [like the baked tofu] it's because it's incredibly popular and SO delicious! Not a bad thing. Also provides an opportunity to try something else.
I like the communal seating, but I do understand that it makes most people uncomfortable—in which case, you could take it to go, and eat in Goodale Park nearby.
Biggest downfall is breakfast—delicious, but only served from 8—11 on Saturdays. Would love a Sunday brunch. If you make it to breakfast, pass on the potatoes that aren't well roasted, but their blueberry pancakes are devine!
Pros: Vegan options * The Bread. * Environmentally friendly.
Cons: No brunch. * Short Breakfast hours. * |

Review: I had high hopes for Benevolence. The first time I ate there I was visiting family and enjoyed an awesome sandwich. However, once I moved to C'bus, I found that the restaurant was unpredictable. One evening they didn't have any tofu left. On two other visits they were out of the tahini sauce that "makes" a few of their dishes. I was also served lasagna that was frozen in the middle and tasted mainly of tomato sauce. The sassafras tea is amazing and the bread is to die for. It's definitely worth a visit, but I would stick to the sandwiches and salads.
Pros: locally owned * great bread * sassafras tea
Cons: unpredictable * odd hours * |

Review: I Love, Love, Love this restaurant!
From the atmosphere to the food it's wonderful, and it's the first place I take my brave non-veg friends to eat because I know there food is quality and it always tastes amazing. Their breakfast in particular (Saturday mornings only) is always a treat :)
Pros: Food * Atmosphere * People
Cons: It's downtown, so parking can be a drag * * |

Review: Well prepared, perfectly spiced, unique food selections at a very affordable price. Other vegan eateries could learn from this place.
The bread is astounding. Only complaints would be the seating--too many huge tables, feels like you're in a cafeteria..they should go with smaller tables. Also, breakfast is served only on Saturdays?! What's up with that?
Pros: Vegan selections * Affordable * Tasty
Cons: Tables too big/crammed * No outdoor seating * Breakfast not served every day |
